I've already read the sequel Point of Retreat, and although that did disappoint me, this book can certainly stand on its own, although it took me several days to get over feeling the sequel took away from the enjoyment of this book. This Colleen Hoover series is a contemporary romance story that revolves around Sydney and Ridge, who find themselves entangled in a complex and forbidden love affair. After carving her path all on her own, Beyah is well on her way to bigger and better things, thanks to no one but herself.
