Description

This is a gripping mystery-thriller and an insightful snapshot of time, set in post-war Britain. It's 1949 and life is bleak for Henry. He misses his father who died a war hero, and he escapes from his annoying stepfather and stepsister whenever he can and goes to the cinema - his passion. One day in the cinema queue he meets Mrs Beaumont who also loves films, and lends Henry a camera for his school project. Henry is disgusted that he's been put in a group with Jeffries, the son of a man who went AWOL, and Pip, who was born illegitimate; but he's about to learn that tolerance and friendship are more important than social stigmas.Henry will need his new friends when he processes the film and makes an alarming discovery.Like a bomb waiting to explode, Henry's world is about to unravel. About This Edition ISBN: Harry is a lot like his older brother Henry except he’s been design specifically for pet lovers. So, if you have a few four-legged friends running around this could be for you. It can clean wet spills, dry dust, scrub carpets, and clean upholstery. Essentially it is a 4-in-1 carpet cleaner and vacuum. Henry and his pals Pip and Jeffries are also film lovers, where they spend every spare pence, and the reader's treated to a review of period (and earlier) films. To be a film "clapper boy" is Henry's dream. The story cleverly details the attitudes of the time and how warped they were from our point of view while making the point that in some ways those attitudes are still around. The reader grows with Henry in his perception of the adult world.

The Harry has won Which? Best Buy awards for basically being brilliant. It’s good enough at removing pet hair that they give it their stamp of approval. Henry is among the most popular names in the UK. It was placed at number 11 for the latest ONS baby boy names data. The Henry range have tremendous amounts of colour to them – but only one (very distinctive) style. If it has that big happy face, if the nose is the vacuum hose, and if it perpetually, moronically, and frustratingly never stops grinning? It’s a Henry. It’s a strong and masculine name that is a vintage classic. Although it is of German origin it has strong connections to British history, with eight kings of England being called Henry! In the dry it has a hefty storage capacity of 15 litres and a wide range of attachments means it can switch effortlessly between different tasks. It really is a vacuum which can rise to meet just about every challenge you can think of. Only one of the included attachments is designed for cleaning up hair. The rest are normal Henry attachments. Only one of the included attachments is designed for cleaning up hair. The rest are normal Henry attachments. He offers two useful features. The first is a dual purpose hairo-brush which is fantastic for scrubbing off stubborn pet hairs and other stains, the second is a carbon filter designed to combat unpleasant smells. The MicroFresh filter activated charcoal filter will minimise the bad smells your pets can create.

The Henry vacuum cleaner range covers a number of price points. The more expensive models, like the George, do more things than the models that don’t cost as much. Adversely, the cheapest Henry Vacuum is likely to be the original version. You would think that you paid less for less dustbin capacity (like what you get with the James, where you sacrifice dustbin space for storage) but this isn’t the case. What is a Class Rating? It takes place in post-war England. Everything is grimy, in need of a coat of paint, and worn out. This recreation of this time period is so good you don't notice it. There was one flaw, a theatre marquee a little too modern for the period.Just Henry also stars John Henshaw (Red Riding, Looking for Eric, Confessions of a Diary Secretary), an ex-soldier and now the Commissionaire at the Plaza Cinema. Pooky Quesnel (Scott & Bailey, Five Days, Criminal Justice) plays Paul's mother Mrs Jefferies. WWII has ended, but Henry is fighting his own battles. He misses his father who died a war hero, and his only distraction is the cinema. When Henry develops an old camera film he uncovers a mystery and events spiral until his life resembles the drama of his beloved big screen. Like a bomb waiting to explode, Henry’s world is about to unravel . . . It follows the exploits of Henry Dodge, a boy in his final year of school, living in post-War Britain. His father died a war hero and he now lives with his mother and stepfather, younger sister Molly and his grandmother. Have Questions about Henry, Hetty, Charles, George – or any other vacuums? We may already have the answer… What’s the best Henry for my small home or outhouse?

As we go through the book, Henry makes new friends along the way, so we soon get a nice little gang to follow. There are Pip and Jeffries - his friends from school, Grace – the young girl who shares his love of cinema and Mrs. Beaumont – a woman who he meets, because she helps him get into A-rated films, where he needs an adult to accompany him.Add to that all the usual benefits of the Henry range such as 9 litre capacity, a sturdy frame and reliable, long-lasting performance and you have the perfect addition for any pet lover’s home. At the beginning of this quite long novel Henry is very bigoted and blind to what is going on around him. He hates his kindly, decent stepfather and resents his baby half-sister, Molly. Neither can he see his scheming, lying, lazy grandmother for what she is. Gradually he learns to value people for what they are rather than or whom they are related to or what their parents did. The hoses only give an extra metre or two in terms of extra reach. However, the cord winds out for up to 26 metres, which is the average length a Henry vacuum cleaner can stretch to. If you own a flat, the Henry will be able to clean the whole place without you having to unplug and move. Energy Efficiency There’s always a frugal member of the family and James is it. Bright blue in colour he’s efficient to run and offers a different approach to storage and attachments.

Harry

The Henry with the most versatility is probably the George. It cleans your curtains, cushions, carpets, hard floors, your car, your drains, and probably everything else in your life. Beyond that, the Henry vacuum cleaner range has a pet hair model, a wet/dry model, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The range is versatile within itself. Adèle Geras on Michelle Magorian’s Just Henry, a novel that’s as glorious as a Saturday morning show Okay, so I'm being anachronistic, but every time Henry's malevolent grandmother is onstage, George Thorogood's 'Bad to the Bone' played in my head. She's one nasty piece of work, and if not the Nastiest Fictional Grandmother Ever, certainly a major contender. Later that night, Maureen chides Henry in her convalescence, pointing out that her new marriage would not be legal if the man he met were truly his father, that she would be guilty of the crime of bigamy and that the baby would be born a bastard. She instructs Henry to keep silent, but also to bring word to his father that she wishes to see him. The friendship between Grace and Henry begins to bloom into more romantic feelings with repeated trips to the cinema. Henry takes her to meet the man, who begins to show sinister motives. It is apparent upon Grace's intense questioning that Henry's father is a deserter who faked his own death, though he makes the claim that he was an amnesiac. Henry's devotion to the self-made cult of his father causes him to reject Grace and flee in anger.
