We advise you read the book Fazail-e-Haj by Hazrath Sheikh Zakariyya (rehmatullah Alayh), the chapter on the virtues of Makka Mukarramah and Madina Munawwara. I would like to know your opinion on reading the book Fazail-e-Amaal by Maulana Muhammed Zakariya Kandhhalvi R.A. Many Saudi Alims have issued fatwas on the reading of the mentioned kitab that it contains too many weak and fabricated hadiths and that it is not permissible to read it. Please comment. [N Ahmed (UK)] The authenticity of ahadith depends on the sanad of the hadith. However, the verification of the sanad being sound or not is the function of the muhadditheen. For the layman, he should rely on literature of reliable Ulama. Fazaail A’maal is compiled by Hazrat Shaikh Zakariyya (RA). The only reason people will object on Faizaail A’maal is because they do not know the high and lofty academic status of Hazrat Shaikh Zakariyya (RA). The translation of the Virtues of Prayer was carried out by Abu Mahmud Hedayet Hossen, a former teacher of Faridabad Madrasa, with a foreword by Abdul Aziz, Amir of Bangladesh Tabligh Jamaat. Although he began translating other books in the series, he couldn't complete them due to his passing. In 1969, Abdullah bin Said Jalalabadi translated Virtues of Ramadan, which was first published by the Bangladesh Islamic Propagation Office in 1975. In 1983 and 1984, Muhammadullah Hafezzi's edition, along with an introduction, was published by the Mahanabi Memorial Council. [9] Later, the complete translation was released by Sakhawatullah from the Tablighi Library. [10] Finally, in 2001, Muhammad Obaidullah obtained permission from the leaders of Tablighi Jamaat Bangladesh to translate the entire work, which was then published by Darul Kitab. The text consists of selected verses of the Qur'an, Hadiths, commentary thereon, and other material. The book is a compilation of different previous books written by same author. It has been translated into English, Persian, Bengali, and many other languages. It is popular in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and among South Asian immigrants in the United States and UK. It is mainly used by the Tablighi Jamaat for taalim (teaching) purposes. Objective of which is to bring Ehtesaab (consider the rewards of good deeds before committing them) into ones life.May Allah Ta‘ala save us all from such irrational decision-making regarding the noble sayings of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace). A common comment made against Fazaail-e-Amaal is that some narrations of the book is weak and fabricated. However, weak narrations are not acceptable only in regards to aqeedah and in establishing Shariah rulings. Following this, the Fada'il series translation was published by the Ashrafia Library of Dhaka, with the majority of the books translated by Muhibur Rahman Ahmad Jalalabadi. Another translation of this series was published by the Quran Manzil Library, translated by Kazi Abdus Shahid and Nuruzzaman. Aminul Islam, the khatib of Lalbagh Fort Mosque, translated the Virtues of Durood and The Story of the Companions. Abul Lais Ansari also translated The Story of the Companions, which was published by the Islamic Library. However, the most reliable Bengali translation of The Story of the Companions was accomplished by Muzaffar Husain and published by the Emdadia Library in Dhaka. [9] For those looking to deepen their knowledge of Islam, the app includes a range of lectures and videos by renowned Islamic scholars, covering various topics such as Tafseer, Fiqh, Seerah, and more.

Allah will not unite the Ummah of Mohammad upon misguidance. Allah’s help is with the majority. Whoever deviates from them will be thrown into the fire of Jahannam.” (Sunan Tirmizi p.39 v.2) Metcalf, Barbara D. (2009). Zakariyya, Maulānā Muḥammad. The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Islamic World. Oxford University Press. ISBN 978-0-19-530513-5. Archived from the original on 2 July 2023 . Retrieved 26 June 2023. In fact, we had quoted the verdict of Hafiz al-Dhahabi and Hafiz ibn Hajar regarding the status of that Hadith. We have also mentioned the possibility of other Muhadditheen having not classified it as such.f.) Imām al-Shawk ā ni (may Allah have mercy on him) has also mentioned the above-mentioned tradition in his tafs ī r that Abdullah ibn Masu’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that “ Ghayy is a river or a valley in Hell [made of] pus, very deep, foul-tasting, those who follow lusts will be flung in it.”[ii] Fazail-e-Amaal Vol-1 English Revised Edition with References - Islamic Books | online Islamic Bookstore, Holy Quran, children story books, game, gifts, India"। idarastore.com। ২০২০-০৭-০৫ তারিখে মূল থেকে আর্কাইভ করা । সংগ্রহের তারিখ ২০২০-০৭-০৫। Salam, Ziya Us (২০১৮)। Of Saffron Flags and Skullcaps: Hindutva, Muslim Identity and the Idea of India (ইংরেজি ভাষায়)। SAGE Publishing India। আইএসবিএন 978-93-5280-736-9 । সংগ্রহের তারিখ ১৯ জুলাই ২০২০।

d.) al-H ā kim (may Allah have mercy on him) relates that Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) stated regarding the verse: “But there came after them successors who neglected salāh and pursued lusts] So they will be thrown in ghayy” that Ghayy is a valley in hell that is very deep and foul-tasting. Al-H ā kim graded its isnād as sound [sah ī h] . A common comment made against Fazail-e-A’mal is that some of the narrations mentioned in it are weak and fabricated. This comment is not totally correct, as there are no fabricated narrations in this book. There are dha’eef (weak) narrations in Fazail-e-A’mal. However, it is important to point out that the word dha’eef, literally translated as ‘weak’, is a terminology and should not be understood in its general sense. Its application is based on the rules explained in the sciences of hadith. Moreover, weak narrations are not acceptable only in regards to aqeedah and the rulings of Islamic jurisprudence. Majority of the scholars have accepted weak narrations as far as virtues of good deeds are concerned. Even Imam Bukhari (Rahimahullah) has brought weak narrations in his book, Al Adabul Mufrad, which shows that he also accepts weak narrations in regards to virtues of good deeds.”

Fatwa # 1

The writing of the book Fazail Amaal took a span of 35 years. It started in 1930 and was completed in 1965. The reason for this lengthy duration is that the book was never entirely planned out by Maulana Zakariyya (RA). Each section was written at different times on the dying wish and requests from many legendary personalities. It was thus written with full Ikhlas, never to seek fame or name.
