The first time I used the silent teacher strategy was when teaching calculating percentages of amounts. I asked the children for silence and explained that I was going to show them a process without any teacher talk and they would then explain in as much detail as possible what I had done. So there are five tips to help you improve silent teacher, we just go over those tip number one, tell your students what you’re doing and why. Tip two, make full use of gestures. Tip three prompt self explanation. Tip Four, allow adequate thinking time. And Tip Five, ask students to write questions after silent teacher. If you’ve tried silent teacher already, which of those do you already do. And if you have tried silent teacher are there any of those that you don’t do that you feel are important that you can build into your practice. There were five or six times where I got the exact same question twice in a row. Maybe that can be filtered out somehow.

Without any teacher explanation or narrative, children piece together what is happening and create meaning for themselves. When the player’s answer is incorrect, he is presented with another question of the same kind. The questions are already fixed in advance, but thanks to a random selection of numbers and letters in the case of a wrong answer, the player has to work things out by trial and error.

Which programming language ?

They understand too that this was ‘somebody’. When I heard that they call them (the donated bodies) silent teachers, I went away feeling really happy instead of upset. The power it has on novice learners gaining “domain-specific knowledge” (Craig’s terminology) and working towards mastery is amazing. As I assist beginners in getting started with Elm, I often wonder how we can make learning this programming language easier. This way, I also discovered the ‘Silent Teacher’ shared by @Janiczek at https://discourse.elm-lang.org/t/silent-teacher-a-game-to-teach-basics-of-programming/1490 The teacher’s silence demands visual attention from the students, and leads them to listen to each other. In the absence of teacher explanation or narration of events, students must piece together the pattern or meaning themselves, developing focus, attention, and problem solving skills.

Silent Teacher is a minimalist game that allows a novice to discover and understand relatively technical concepts in coding and mathematics by themselves, without any explanation being provided. Make sure students know whether they are right or wrong, and don’t wait until it’s too late – Jo Morgan – audio– video This is the first course we have created based around maths, after we observed a need in post-baccalaureate students on a video game development programme. With this audience, the course successfully led an entire class to understand the geometric interpretation of the scalar product in just 30 minutes, whereas this would typically take 4 or 5 hours with a teacher. I recall one surgeon who had a patient, a young man, who was dying as a result of an invasive tumour. Silent Teacher originally started out in coding, and our coding courses can be done completely independently. Our mathematics courses are also accessible online, but these require the discreet presence and guidance of a teacher. On a large screen, the problem is at the very top, and the scoring is at the very bottom. Moving them both closer to the center would make it smoother to stay focused on the flow.
