No. The effectiveness of comfort milks over infant milks in reducing the symptoms of colic is not established. Instead of switching formula, small changes to the timing and quantity of feeds can help to manage colic. Would it be a bad idea mixing carobel with comfort milk? i guess if the carobel was going to give her diarrhoea or looser poo's anyway then the constipation milk would make it even looser wouldn't it?

Use the scoop: Use the scoop provided to measure the correct amount of formula powder as recommended by the manufacturer. Don't be tempted to add extra as this can cause constipation and dehydration. Clean bottles and teats thoroughly: You should wash bottles, teats and other feeding equipment in hot, soapy water. Then rinse them with running water, after which they are ready to be sterilised. Nutriprem 2 is a special milk for the dietary management of preterm and low birth weight infants. It is a post discharge formula that is normally used until a baby reaches six months corrected age. However, as this is a food for special medical purposes and only available on prescription, your GP or consultant will make a clinical decision as to when the milk should be stopped, depending on the individual circumstances. I am sure you have spoken with your healthcare professional already, but if you do have any further concerns about your little one, please do reach out to them. It can take some time for your little one to settle when changing milks. This information is intended for healthcare professionals to use with parents or carers of who require Cow & Gate Comfort Formula.

The next option was carobel, we an unopened tub of cow and gate comfort milk from before we tried the anti reflux milk so decided to try the carobel with the comfort milk (that says its for colic and constipation) Keep in mind that lactose intolerance is not the same as a cow's milk allergy. Lactose-free formula contains cow’s milk proteins that are found in normal infant formula, so it isn't suitable for babies with a cow’s milk allergy. Unfortunately when she was in hospital we fed her aptamil but I had bought cow and gate at home without realising but we didn't think much of it and just fed her that when we came out of hospital about 3 days after. She was ok for a day or two but suddenly become very bunged up and couldn't poop without a real struggle. We tried water, rubbing her belly, warm baths, moving her legs in a bicycle motion. Nothing seemed to work. I’m not sure if she is just getting used to the carobel or if she was going to get diarrhoea anyway but is being made worse with it being in the comfort milk which is for constipation.

If treatment is recommended by a health care professionnal and you see no effect after 2-3 weeks, you should talk again with your health visitor or GP about alternative options.
