Shutters at risk of falling down, some need replacement - currently have old shutters in attic of doom- Some shutters replaced in marquis room - not started maintenance on main chateau shutters and windows He communicated more than one hundred and fifty papers to the French Academy of Sciences, edited the Connoissance de temps (1759–1774), and again (1794–1807), and wrote the concluding two volumes of the 2nd edition of Montucla's Histoire des mathématiques (1802). [2] Publications [ edit ] Argentine Natalia “Nati” Oliveto was so capable as a volunteer she was hired to handle all guest reservations, house management and fan mail coming into the chateau.

At the time they bought the château, most of Stephanie’s friends thought she was mad because she was coming with a best friend and not a husband. Everyone – apart from Stefanie’s parents who were 100% behind the move – thought with such a big commitment they were bound to fall out. Beauregard (Pomerol; from a well-placed vineyard on the edge of the plateau of 16 hectares on a clay, sand and gravel; 65% Merlot; 35% Cabernet Franc; aging in oak barrels for 16 months; a final yield of 36 hl/ha; 14% alcohol). Tasted at the UGC in Paris and then over Zoom with Vincent Priou. A property that has been on a steep upward ascent for a number of vintages that has made another excellent wine in 2020. Deep in hue and, although still translucent at the core, there is quite a lot of extraction here, showing the ambition. Very viscous and limpid. They spend long stretches at the chateau over the summer and winter holidays. They also decided to ride out the pandemic there. We are nearing the end of our description of Lalande's career, but let us pause to look at some aspects of his character. First his appearance is described in [ 2 ] as follows:- Scandinavian countries have also embraced the name Leland, appreciating its unique sound and meaning. In these nations, it is often associated with nature and the beauty of the landscape. The name Leland resonates with the picturesque scenery found in countries like Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, evoking a sense of tranquility and harmony. Leland in the Americas She prefers to have guests who know a little about her and her friends and who will want to sit with them and chat. Which is why, when they are open for B&B, people will have to book directly through her. She has a degree in English from Oxford. And having studied Opera at Trinity college of music, is an accomplished singer too. Yet what makes her stand out is the people she has chosen to share her château adventure. I have sometimes amused myself by saying that I thought I possessed all the human virtues. This phrase of mine has been bitterly cast up against me as if I had claimed "to have all the human virtues". In fact, what I said was that "I thought I had them", which is quite a different matter. Nevertheless, I was perhaps wrong to have said as much; but my conscience required it of me.

Although his investigations were conducted with diligence rather than genius, Lalande's career was an eminent one. As a lecturer and writer he helped popularise astronomy. His planetary tables, into which he introduced corrections for mutual perturbations, were the best available up to the end of the 18th century. In 1801, he endowed the Lalande Prize, administered by the French Academy of Sciences, for advances in astronomy. In addition to its presence in ancient records, the name Leland is associated with several famous historical figures. John Leland, an English antiquary and author, is considered one of the earliest ambassadors of English cultural heritage. His works are highly regarded, contributing significantly to the preservation and documentation of England’s history and traditions.

Dadification: The attribution of Derek's nature or characteristics at each and every opportunity. @Jeeves Here are some welcomes beautiful written by our own Rory in previous threads, and they say it so well:

The name Leland, through these historical figures, has become synonymous with intellectual curiosity, cultural preservation, and the pursuit of knowledge. Their contributions have left an indelible mark on their respective fields and continue to inspire generations of scholars and enthusiasts. Geographical Distribution of the Name Leland

If reduction in width is required, care needs to be taken not to cut into older leafless growth as new growth will not appear from bare wood La Croix St.-Georges (Pomerol; 91% Merlot; 9% Cabernet Franc; from a vineyard of 4.5 hectares just outside Catusseau, the average age of the vines being 43 years; aging in a combination of traditional oak barrels larger format oak barrels and cigar-shaped barrels, 60% of which are new; a final yield of 37 hl/ha; 14.6% alcohol). This used to be a wine that, to my taste, was rather too marked by the oak; not any more. This has a pure and lifted, but rich, nose of crushed raspberries, blueberries, red cherries, assorted crushed peppercorns and wild but dried garrigue herbs. On the palate, this is broad-shouldered, dense, quite compact and with considerable mid-palate concentration. It’s a bit of bruiser and very much a vin de garde; but, as with Sacré Coeur, there’s enough acidity and freshness here to compensate for the richness without this ever threatening to become heavy. It’s one of the bigger wines of the appellation and won’t perhaps be to every taste; but it’s going to be a very impressive bottle of wine in a decade’s time. I have also included here my notes on the Guinaudeau family’s other wines – the truly unique and singular Les Perrières de Lafleur and the ever more impressive Grand Village. Both are from vineyards increasingly planted with massal selection Bouchet and Merlot from Lafleur itself on calcaire and argilo-calcaire terroirs respectively. Both deserve very serious attention. It is up to the scholars to spread the light of science, so that one day they may curb those monstrous rulers who bloody the earth; that is to say, the warmongers. As religion has produced so many of them, we may hope to see an end to that as well.
