A young man of twenty two was working for a light fitting company when he fell causing damage to his knee. The employees who worked for the company used a goods stillage to reach the light fittings, which was unsuitable for carrying people. The stillage was lifted into place by a fork lift truck. Hours into a job the stillage became unstable and fell bringing down the worker causing an injury to his knee. It fell three feet on to concrete flooring. The investigation on this case found that using this method of lifting was regularly used. The company was fined £6,000.
