What starts out as a straight-forward puzzle gets challenging and more varied through-out the games. A single game lasts around 10-15 minutes, so it’s manageable even if your young zombie hunters don’t have much of an attention span.

This is followed by a move action that can defeat the zombies if you move into their space, sending them back outside the school.You’ll be roaming the school, dispatching zombies in no time – and it does feel as though you can get into a good pattern of moving around and removing zombies if you’re not too unlucky with the dice. There was only one nest of infected left, and the responsibility for defeating it fell on their shoulders. You lose if all four buildings are overrun, and win when all four crates have been moved to the school. The wind muttered and the skeletal branches of the trees swayed as Karina crept through the dark streets with Ralph, Felix, and Walter behind her. With the rules quick to learn and the components few and easy to set up, the barrier to start playing is very low.

But this is a fantastic way to introduce young gamers to legacy games, and they will love the story element of the developing game. City of Horror: Cosy up to your fellow players for when the time comes to vote to throw one of your dwindling survivors to the zombies. Zombies remain one of the big icons of horror - especially action horror - but that doesn't mean they have to be limited to just films and TV.There is even a comic book of sorts at the beginning of the rulebook that continues to get added to so that the story expands as you open more envelopes. If you or the people you play with are not going to be comfortable with that, then this type of game might not be for you. But back in 2013 Annick Lobet set out to make zombies a bit more family friendly with her game Zombie Kidz (read our review of Zombie Kidz).

One side is for a 2-player game with extra doors for easier movement while the other side is for 3-4 players. Dead of Winter: Build a compelling narrative of harsh survival, heroic collaboration, and devastating betrayal. You’ll sticker these tracks as you complete games and achievements and unlock cool upgrades along the way. This really changed the math and meant that at the end of your turn you needed to make sure there were at least two zombies available to be placed.
This gives some more to think about since you can be most efficient but making a sort of assembly line to the middle space on the board, allowing the crate to be swiftly delivered. Because the group wins or loses together I could coach my kids and teach them tactical decision-making and strategy.

The artwork is fresh, the characters are well thought out and they have even made the instruction book cool by turning it into The Zombie Hunters Guidebook, where you keep track of your progress with achievement stickers and rank badges.
