As well as meeting Santa, this Christmassy affair offers festive treats, story time, and a Bavarian curling rink! It's all taking place at Alderford Lake in Whitchurch, Shropshire, which is just over an hour's drive from Birmingham via the A41.

The attraction closes earlier than usual in the winter months, around 3 or 4 pm, because the days in the UK are shorter. Christmas markets in London usually run from mid-November to early January, just after New Year’s Eve. So book now and bring your little ones along to enjoy the thrill of meeting Santa and receiving a gift. I’m also mum to the mini traveller – aka 11-year-old Minnie* – and trying to work out how to cling on to normal life by my fingernails. After visiting London Santa in Chelsea, check out one of the cute cafes in Chelsea or travel slightly north to Notting Hill. While it may be less well known than other locations on this list, Springtime Nurseries in Enfield is actually home to one of the biggest and most magical Santa’s Grottos in London. Experience all the fun of more than 25 rides in Thomas Land plus singalong shows and lots of entertainment. Chelsea is busy with Christmas activities all through the season, making it a must-visit location for where to see Santa in London.

Led by local children holding their own lanterns, Santa often makes an appearance before settling in to the Greenwich market grotto for the rest of the festive season. Santa will take a break from toy building for a few hours every Saturday and Sunday in the run up to Christmas to host a special storytelling session for all the lucky children who have made it onto his nice list this year. If you cannot get a ticket to see Santa at Harrods, there are plenty of other locations on my list of where to see Santa in London.Set on a cold snowy Christmas Eve in Mayfair, a family is settling down for storytime in their small flat, only to discover this night will turn out to be more magical than any of them expect. You can meet Father Christmas in the Great Hall and see Blakesley dressed for Christmas on December 10 and 11 from 11am to 4. The Worcestershire attraction featured a rainbow bridge into a hidden wood filled with dramatic lighting set amongst the trees last year. Look out for new attractions such as a Reindeer Grotto at Planters Garden Centre in Tamworth and a Gingerbread Factory at Hatton Adventure World in Warwick. Additional activities include a Light Trail and ice skating plus a 120ft Giant Observation Wheel enjoying views over the Malvern Hills.

At Christmas time, however, it’s transformed into a festive attraction and is a great place to head to if you’re wondering where to see Santa in London. Another of the most unusual places to meet Santa in London is on a speedboat on the River Thames with The Jingle Bell Blast by Thames Rockets.

These are some of London’s trendiest areas, making for a great Christmas-time walk with hot chocolate.
