As such, it’s highly moisture resistant, making it a viable prospect even for cold weather use in predominantly wet climates. For UK use, however, we think the bag delivers enough warmth to reasonably be considered a true 4-season sleeping bag, and we’re happy with its performance overall. I’ve had the OEX Leviathan EV 900 for a few years now, and I’ve slept in it at varying temperatures in different climates. Our gear experts field tested each of the winter-rated sleeping bags featured in this guide while camping out overnight in a range of different locations, from North Wales to North America. You can comfortably carry it for miles on winter hikes, and you could even extend its use to winter bikepacking or fastpacking trips if you had enough room in your set-up. Not tried the Thermarest and I don't use sleeping bag liners as it's extra weight to carry all day for a bit of luxury in my opinion. The other ratings, namely the lower limit and the “extreme” limit relate to temperatures at which the bag should keep you alive, not happy.Featuring a thick baffle along the length of the side zip, as well as a huge baffle and lofty hood around the top of the bag, it’s built to keep you warm in colder climates – and in my experience, it does just that. A baffle will often be present around the shoulders to cinch down and tighten everything up, thereby preventing any heat from escaping through the night. A top-quality 4-season sleeping bag, the Andes Infinium 800 is well equipped to deal with temperatures that drop way below freezing. It’s a number that’s based on the amount the down in the sleeping bag lofts back up after being compressed, with higher-quality down lofting up more than lower-quality down.
