With the Saints disbanded, ‘Playa’ wakes from a 5-year coma having required extensive plastic surgery, which is a brilliant touch. It explains why he may look different (or even have changed gender – as this is the first in the series that offers the option of a female protagonist) and it gets mentioned… a lot. Want to shoot someone with a Foam Finger? Hit someone with a football that shoots them into the sky and blows them up? Shove a grenade into someone’s mouth and throw them at another enemy? You can do all of that and more, and that’s sure to be the tip of the iceberg.Although this worked well for Saints Row 2 and 3, it would also be responsible for the major criticism levelled at Saints Row 4. These are very, very minor technical complaints though, and do not detract from the overall quality and enjoyability of the game.

Saints Row has always been one of those titles that’s meant to be good fun. And, it is. Bugs were another significant issue at launch. Players reported game crashes, forcing them to restart their consoles or lose progress. Others encountered AI inconsistencies, with non-playable characters (NPCs) acting erratically or not responding as expected, making missions and interactions less immersive.Since its difficult beginnings, Saints Row has been well supported by the development team with continuous development and bug fixes. The fourth instalment sees ‘Playa’ save the world from nuclear annihilation in the first few minutes. As a result, they find themselves elected President of the United States. Saints Row is an action-adventure, open-world video game developed by Volition and published by Deep Silver, released in August of 2022. Set in the fictional city of Santo Ileso, the game puts players in control of a customizable character, as they establish a criminal empire, engage in combat, and complete missions.
