This was a conscious decision, as this brown glass provides better protection to the vodka and is made with 60% recycled content with significantly lower carbon emissions as a result compared to typical clear glass used by most vodkas. In addition, the bottles are sourced from a local manufacturer, with the double benefit of reducing transport emissions and supporting a local Yorkshire business. A brand new sustainable British vodka has been launched in a bespoke embossed amber glass bottle designed and manufactured by Beatson Clark. Having the challenge of making Dutch Barn as sustainable as possible, whilst achieving the very best vodka possible, was a great adventure.” The apples used to produce the spirit are 100% British fruit, sourcing from an expert apple processor who in turn sources locally helps to minimise its carbon footprint, as well as support British apple farmers. Ellers Farm commissioned research from the University of York’s Biorenewables Development Centre which showed a number of specific flavour compounds were degraded when stored in clear glass, yet not observed in the amber glass. The flavour of the vodka stored in amber glass was closest to the vodka in the original sample. Launching today, Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka, is set to take on the market by storm. The stylish bottle is made from 60% recycled brown glass that’s scientifically proven to protect the delicate flavour of the vodka, ensuring that it tastes as good as the day it was bottled*. It’s also locally sourced, minimising transport emissions. Dutch Barn is carefully crafted using British apples balanced with a touch of potato spirit, plus water sourced from the ground for a crisp, clean and beautifully smooth vodka. The Distillery – which was certified carbon neutral since day one of production – is in the process of planting 20 acres of apple trees to not only provide the fruit for their award-winning vodka, but also to remove carbon from the atmosphere and create a biodiverse habitat that benefits pollinators, birds, mammals and visitors. To celebrate the launch, Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka is planting trees through its partnership with Ecologi.
