The term includes all dolphins and porpoises. The zetii are very aware of their close relationship with other cetaceans, but view the whales as separate from the zetii, naming them the Great Wanderers or Great Ones. One notable anomaly between the human view of dolphins and the zetii view is that they do not consider the Orcas (Orcinus orca) to be zetii. The Ka-Tse (and many other zeta species) name for an Orca is a Krakar. During the early Miocene (about 20 million years ago), echolocation developed in its modern form. You discuss Tiger parenting and some of its damaging effects, but do you feel that there are any redeeming qualities to this method? There is also evidence that pollution is weakening the immune systems of marine mammals. Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) including pesticides such as DDT, and industrial chemicals; most famously the Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a major hazard. PCBs are linked to immune system suppression and reproductive failure, and have been found in high levels in the bodies of dead dolphins in many parts of the world. A superbly plotted, accomplished and entertaining novel with a powerful environmental message describing the intolerable pressure from man’s destruction of the dolphins’ world. –Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society Mark Caney narrated his own audiobook version and he does a really good job with it. He had distinct voices for all the characters and his female voices were feminine. Caney also captured the various emotions of the characters as well. The pacing was good and there were no tech issues with the recording. 5/5 stars.

I absolutely loved Dolphin Way: Rise of the Guardians and read it in three days because I wanted to immerse myself in the fabulous world which Mark Caney created. – Feeling Fictional Dolphin Way begins with the mysterious death of Born Into Summer, a young friend of the book’s protagonist, Touches The Sky. It expands into a conflict between The Way, a quixotic code of conduct that has kept dolphins eco-friendly pacifists for millennia, and the rapid toxification of the ocean that is pushing it towards obsolescence. Touches The Sky’s natural habitat is becoming a more violent and competitive place, and throughout his adventures Sky makes discovery after discovery leading him to believe that this is all thanks to those destructive, wasteful humans up above.
