Description

Other releases include the Talisker 57 North whisky. There is also a Talisker Dark Storm that was released as a travel retail special. Dark Storm was matured in heavily charred casks compared to the standard Storm release. The distillery began producing special bottlings of the whisky for connoisseurs in the early 2000s, with a 20- and 25-year bottling (where previously only a 10-year and 18-year were available). The 25-year bottling, despite being more expensive than the 20-year bottling, was distributed more widely. [ citation needed] The Talisker Distillery". North British Mail. Scotland. 17 January 1895 . The texture is quite light and gentle on the palate, with a slight viscosity that immediately coats the tongue. On the palate, it’s surprisingly mild despite its 46.8% ABV, leaving behind only subtle traces of spice and peat smoke. Talisker Storm is well-balanced between sweetness and smokiness, delivering an enjoyable experience with every sip.

Talisker was the favourite whisky of writers Robert Louis Stevenson and HV Morton. In his poem "The Scotsman's Return From Abroad", Stevenson mentioned "The king o' drinks, as I conceive it, Talisker, Islay, or Glenlivet." Having tried the 10 year old before this was softer and more mellow than I expected to begin with but with a subtle woody smokiness-a real depth of flavour so much going on with hints of spice and a sweetness too. Easy to drink and the taste lingers pleasantly on the palate. Taste: Salty, peppery, smoky. But in moderation. Some toasted oak, nori and olive brine as well. A tinge of burnt lemon peel too. Rather oily mouthfeel, by the way. Talisker is repeatedly referenced in the BBC Radio 4 comedy Cabin Pressure. Three separate episodes ("Edinburgh" in series 1, "Paris" in series 3 and "Timbuktu" in series 4) revolve around First Officer Douglas Richardson's attempts to steal 25-year-old Talisker whisky rightfully belonging to the wealthy regular passenger Mr Birling, and it is also mentioned in several other episodes. Today I am looking at the 3rd of my mini Talisker bottles, and it is time for the Talisker Storm single malt whisky. The Talisker 10 yo whisky easily makes it onto my top 10 desert island drams. I love the smoky, creamy notes of this release. It is affordable and bursts with flavour. I enjoyed the Talisker Skye but found it a bit rough around the edges. When pairing the Talisker Storm with food, it is important to match the smoky and peaty notes with bold flavours that can stand up to the intensity of the whisky. Rich, hearty dishes like steak and potatoes or barbecued ribs pair well with Talisker Storm, as do game meats such as venison.

The smoke covers the spiciness and makes it look pale with a tendency to weakness, although supposedly 45.8%.? No clear taste buds want to arise, a bit weak, (watery?) ... unfortunately can't convince me, sorry. Whiskybase B.V. The smoky, peaty flavour pairs wonderfully with strong cheese such as mature cheddar, blue cheese, and Gouda. The smokiness of the whisky cuts through the richness of the cheese and the flavours of both are enhanced.
