Description

The G700S is a stylish mouse, straddling the gap between wider palm grip mice and slimmer claw grip ones. There’s enough here to hold onto, but not enough to slow you down. All in all, it’s an effective shape that should suit most gamers. Testing The battery life on the mouse is relatively short. Using the battery that came with the mouse, it only takes around four hours of use in "Normal Gaming Mode" power settings at 250 updates/second to go from fully charged to a red indicator LED, which according to the manual means very low power level. Using 2000 mAh rechargeable NiMH Duracell AA batteries yields similar results. That being said, I've never had the mouse just die on me while gaming, and I've noticed that it can operate while reporting that very low power red LED for a good while (at least an hour). I'm not sure if the mouse automatically switches to a power-saving mode in that situation or if Logitech was just very conservative when defining their very low power limits. In any case I usually just recharge my mouse overnight (it doesn't need that long to fully recharge - I just find it to be a convenient time to do it) and it's good to go for at least the next day.

After you've set the sensitivity, you can use the button to toggle between your Master mouse and Custom mouse sensitivity. Full-speed USB performance whether wireless or wired: Executes commands up to eight times faster than a standard USB mouse Hard to find a grip comfortable for you but once you find it, you never have to worry about it again so not enough to take a star off. Lets go over the functionality, pros, and the few cons and defects it has accumulated over its long life. It's a wireless mouse, so it inherently contains some of the problems with a wireless mouse. Most critically, it may die in the middle of use, which I have discussed before. But hey, you're looking to get into buying a wireless mouse, so you knew that already, right?

Logitech G700 Review

Today we’re looking at the Logitech G700S, a hybrid gaming mouse that works both wirelessly (via a 2.4GHz dongle) or via a standard micro USB cable. The mouse also boasts a heaping helping of programmable buttons, a dual-mode scroll wheel and a high DPI laser sensor. It looks like an impressive rodent, but how does it actually perform? We’ve got one from the friendly folks at Ebuyer, so let’s test it out! Never worry about battery life again. Add the POWERPLAY wireless charging system to keep G703 and other compatible G mice charged while at rest and at play.* Just attach the included POWERCORE, replacing the optional 10 g weight disc. Beyond just the buttons, the ergonomic design of this mouse is absolutely fantastic. The way to hold this mouse comes perfectly naturally, and the mouse fits in the palm of your hand perfectly. The position of all your fingers come naturally, from the thumb to the pinky, and the wear on my old mouse shows this! I've used many different mice in different settings: Other gaming mice from friends, school and office mice, etc.., and none of them can be beat ergonomically by this mouse. Genuinely, I can not rate the ergonomics of this mouse any higher, it is just the most perfect mouse I have ever had in this department. Logitech G700s Rechargeable Gaming Mouse Technical

The overall shape and construction of the mouse seems well considered; the materials used provide a good amount of grip in all the right areas and the shape is ergonomic without being too wide. General Use The mouse can be used while plugged in to a USB cable and recharging. I used to have a wireless mouse that couldn't be used while it was recharging and that one thing annoyed me so much I ended up replacing it after only a few months. However, the USB recharging cable can sometimes be a hassle (see first bullet in CONS below). G11 is hard to reach so I recommend keeping it as profile switch. The button is probably best there because you will need to change profiles if you have one for Chrome and another for photoshop for example. You won't have to open up the logitech gaming software to switch but you can set it to switch profiles when it detects a certain application but it still might be useful if you save profiles directly to the mouse and ever need to use it on another computer. This seems like a con but is actually a pro but I put it under the cons because some people will be affected by that but this one still slides once again keeping the rating the exact same.I was a little worried about using a wireless mouse for gaming, but it seems the technology has come a long way in the past few years. I couldn’t feel any input lag or interpolation through when using it in wireless mode compared to wired, and altogether it was a perfectly pleasant experience. Of course, if you do feel at a disadvantage when using the wireless mode, you can easily swap to wired mode. Second to last post has a video that shows how to do it for the G700. I've done it twice on mine already. No input lag! Okay, maybe that's going a little too far. Every mouse has input lag, but the important point is that the G700s has no perceptible input lag in either the wired or wireless modes. Obviously this is very important for a gaming mouse and Logitech has really delivered on this front. The bottom of the mouse is fairly busy, with four largish skates surrounding the battery compartment, the on/off switch and the lase sensor. The dpi settings let you set the dpi into 5 different notches. These notches are set from lowest to highest and you can set the dpi for each notch. When you change the dpi on the mouse it will go up and down these notches or cycle through them depending on how your mouse is set up. You can set different dpi notches for different profiles which can be useful for people who game a lot with this mouse.

Use the sliders to adjust speed and SmartShift sensitivity. You can also change the direction of the scroll and thumb wheel, and set the scroll wheel to Ratchet or Freespin: Navigate to C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\LGHUB, where [USERNAME] will be specific to your account.

My several year old Logitech MX Revolution was finally starting to feel its age, so I decided to upgrade to a proper gaming mouse this time, but also wanted to keep the wireless functionality that I enjoyed with the MX, so I set my sights on the G700s, the latest and greatest from Logitech. While I do realize there is not much change from the G700 as some have previously noted, I can only speak to what I notice now about this mouse and its relationship to my prior mouse, the MX Revolution.

Consistent report rate, wired or wireless: Uses a consistent 1ms report rate over 2.4GHz wireless or USB.Adjustable DPI settings. You can save up to five DPI levels per profile and switch between them using two buttons located just to the left of the LMB. If you don't like the default button placement (which I personally don't - I find it too easy to accidentally press the LMB) you can always assign the functions to different buttons. Yea, it's wireless! I've had odd locations for my computer setup over the years, and having a good wireless mouse has helped it a lot to not have a wired mouse get tangled with all the other stuff that needs to be wired. It is also worth noting that the connection to the computer is via a wireless USB-A port, which can also be stored inside the mouse's battery location for easy transport. You can tell by looking at the pictures, 8 years can do some cosmetic damage. Notably, the metal trim of the scroll wheel seems slightly rusty (probably due to me removing the protective coating due to use), the bottom pads of the mouse are peeling slightly (this does not affect gliding on a mousepad, it is purely cosmetic), and most notably, the location where my thumb and pinky commonly are have been smoothed down and had their top-most layer of texturing removed. Despite the cosmetic damage, none of this has affected performance or feel, the feeling of the thumb and pinky location is smooth solid plastic (and I actually prefer this feeling!), and as noted before, gliding the mouse on a mousepad is still perfectly fine, although I wouldn't recommend using this mouse (or any mouse) without a mousepad. This may be a manufacturing defect on my particular mouse only, but I've noticed that the scroll wheel is a little loose when it comes to moving it left and right. This makes it slightly awkward to push the scroll wheel left and right.
