The long-haired, bearded image of Jesus that emerged beginning in the fourth century was influenced heavily by representations of Greek and Roman gods, particularly the all-powerful Greek god Zeus. What he said then was true of his own day and even more prophetic for ours as we are reaping the results of not serving Christ as King.
