About this deal

Yes, a Solo Stove can be used under a covered patio or porch, but it’s important to ensure proper ventilation to prevent the buildup of smoke and carbon monoxide.

To empty the ash pan, we had to reach in and remove the perforated bottom grate and tip it to dump any ash off and into the pan below. After removing the grate, we could remove and dump the pan though the pan is smaller than the grate, so some ash is going to fall around the outside edge.

Our Customers Love It!

The flames are powered through gas that you can easily switch on and off. You can get portable models, however most gas fire pits tend to be permanent –and they can be expensive. You can get a variety of designs, including coffee tables, dining tables and high-top tables; they’re almost always powered by gas or electric, but you can get wood-burning ones, too. We list brands to buy in our garden furniture buying guide.

Lastly, we let the fires burn down to ash so we could determine how easy clean-up was after the blaze. We also noted things like whether or not the pits were easy to carry or move around, as well as their weight and dimensions. I’ve thoroughly tested Solo Stove’s smokeless claim and yes, it works. It’s also effortless to clean up after enjoying a fire because you’re only left with a bit of white ash at the bottom. I’ve cooked over the Yukon as well and Solo Stove has seriously stepped up their cooking accessories, including a wood-fired pizza stove. There is a huge range of fire pits on the market so before you buy, you’ll need to find out about the different types and which fire pit will be best suited to your space and your needs. Different types of fire pit Native Americans employed the Dakota Fire Hole to create hot fires that would burn in windy conditions and not spread. It consisted of two holes in the ground connected by a tunnel: building a fire in one hole causes the rising heat to draw cool air through the tunnel from the other hole. This constant flow of air fueling the fire creates a hot fire that burns close to 100 percent of the wood—similar to the modern smokeless fire pits that pull air from the bottom or sides to fuel your fire and leave a minimum mess. The Best Smokeless Fire PitsFirepits are essentially an enclosure for burning wood or gas and there’s a bewildering choice of models to choose from. Firepits aren’t to be confused with chimineas, smaller structures which burn wood in a partially enclosed casing. The main point to note is that you should not overfill the Bonfire 2.0. If the wood/kindling sits higher than the upper vent holes (inside the rim) you will stuff any hopes of smoke-free burning and it’ll also compromise the airflow burning system, too. Fire pits are an excellent buy and they’re incredibly effective at producing heat, as well as creating an attractive focal point. Most fire pits burn wood, and depending on their size, will require wood be cut to a certain length. But, some can use charcoal or wood pellets (like the ones you’d use for the best pellet smokers).
