Description

I was 18 years old when I first wore a hat in earnest. It was a velvet bowler hat, lined with a golden ribbon with a gentle sparkle. I had just walked out of my college dorm, ready to discover the joys of walking alone through a park on an autumn afternoon. This very adult activity called for a very elegant accessory. Except that, when I dressed the hat, it looked anything but. It felt like a foreign object on my head. On my stroll pedestrians looked at me. I kept my eyes forward. This was not the romantic picture I had envisioned. We have bundled three colors of 100% silk chiffon scarves with our best selling Holly Oversize Wool Hat. Now you can match your different outfits and occasions with the simple switch of the scarf in the color of your choice, essentially enjoying 3 different styles with one hat.

This one-of-a-kind hat can be used as part of an Audrey Hepburn costume assembly but is also perfect for any elegant daytime or outdoor occasions such as weddings, horse races, high tea, etc. Pictorial Parade/Archive Photos/Getty Images Audrey Hepburn and her long-time partner, Dutch actor Robert Wolders, arrive at a White House dinner in 1989. After the war ended in 1945, Hepburn moved with her mother and siblings to Amsterdam, where she began ballet training under Sonia Gaskell, a leading figure in Dutch ballet, and Russian teacher Olga Tarasova. [45] Due to the loss of the family fortune, Ella had to support them by working as a cook and housekeeper for a wealthy family. [46] Hepburn made her film debut playing an air stewardess in Dutch in Seven Lessons (1948), an educational travel film made by Charles van der Linden and Henry Josephson. Dahl, Melissa (11 December 2006). "Stylebook: Hepburn gown fetches record price". Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Archived from the original on 11 May 2008 . Retrieved 1 January 2010. Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady (1964), pushed into high gear Ascot’s headwear extravaganza. Designed by milliner extraordinaire, Madame Paulette, the over-the-top hats captured the style and fashion of the horseracing set, as well as showed the grandness of an accessory. Although a designer and hat maker are the creators, the wearer is the presenter. Every hat is unique on its wearer, but the style is shared. The pillbox hat, glamorized by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, found equal glamour onscreen with Audrey Hepburn in Charade (1963). During these months quarantining at home, I’ve watched my hats steadily collect dust on the tops of my dressers and shelves. Just as many of us feel uninspired to get out of our sweatpants into proper streetwear, popping on a hat, masked and tired, doesn’t quite feel right (it’s like covering whatever part of your face that was left). I’ve missed walking out the front door, spontaneously, my hat and me leading the way. The dusty hats signaled that something was stagnant inside of me.
