About this deal

Players will always have the temptation to get a single box of figures and just go with that, and it’s a viable list for a lot of the warcry factions, which are literally built on that. In matched play though, where you’re looking to put together a fairly optimised warband, you’ll want to go beyond that and look at what allies, thralls and monsters could bring to the table. Here you can see how I painted what I think is the coolest model in the warband: The Bestigor Destroyer.

On top of that, they have access to the Double ability Shield Ram, which gives them a chance to do either 1 damage or damage equal to the value of the Double to an adjacent enemy fighter after a move action. The sweet spot is 8-12 activations. You want plenty of ‘useful’ models with good abilities, high strength, high toughness and punch (though you won’t get all of these outside of very pricey models) and some jobbers to push buttons, act as speed bumps and play the objectives. The Serpent Caller is a lot like the Beastspeaker of the Untamed Beasts, but much better for slightly more. My deepest wish is that this could be a Leader as well, but it can’t be EVERYTHING. Each model in the warband has a lot of character, and as a painter you get to paint almost any kind of texture as you go through the project: Hair, skin, metals, cloth, fur, horns, armor plating, jewelry, nets and so on.

The Skin

Readied Stance (Triple, Frenzied Rager, Pit Veteran with Dual Weapons, Pit Veteran with Shield):Add up to 3 to this fighter’s Toughness for the rest of the battle round. The Spire Tyrants saw few changes to both their profiles and their abilities, other than the usual point adjustments. There are fun alternatives like Hosts of the Everchosen if you want to run a hyper elite army of Archaon with all Varanguard. You do have options. Slaves to Darkness are the successor to Warriors of Chaos from Warhammer Fantasy Battles and are more or less intact to their original version. The majority of the models are just Warriors of Chaos, with Archaeon the Everchosen and a Start Collecting with some new chaos warriors. The older models have held up surprisingly well standing next to the the newer stuff and the diversity grants a fair bit of flexibility in list building. The only shortcoming here is the meager 10 wounds, do not let the enemy outnumber you or the plan will crumble

I really enjoy any attempt to flesh out Path to Glory because it’s an idea I want to like but I think doesn’t quite get there yet. Largely because it wants lots of flavor mechanics that don’t exist quite yet. I think there’s a lot here that gets Path to Glory into the place it’s sort of destined to be. Eye of the Gods The Hammer and Dagger however, or as I like to think of them in this case, the twin fangs of the serpent, will be about their business around the table. Centaurion Marshal - Chaos Lord - Chaos Sorcerer Lord - Darkoath Chieftain - Darkoath Warqueen - Exalted Hero of Chaos - Ogroid MyrmidonA chance to do something is better than you fighter surviving the game, at least for fighters that aren’t essential to the victory conditions. Pros and Cons of the Spire Tyrants

The paralyzing edge is a nice touch too, given you can use this to punch an absolute hole in an enemy threat and also prevent it from even being able to move. The Pit Veteran with Dual Weapons is an alternative build option for one of the Pit Veterans with Shield. This can be a good way of adding some damage to a double move action, which is often a good idea since the Pit Veterans can survive pretty well in a melee with their Toughness 5. Underwhelming Leader –Sadly the Trueblood just is not a very good leader, and she’s the only choice you have. Her Leader-specific ability is just a netting ability that prevents an enemy disengaging or moving. The Spire Tyrants get that on a Chaff model. Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Warcry is a skirmish game that recontextualizes some of the factions that you know and love from the base game. This guide will show you all the info you need to understand how the Spire Tyrants work and how you can use them the best.I basecoated the armor plates Mephiston Red, the armor trim and metals Iron Hands Steel, the skin Cadian Fleshtone, the fur Russ Grey, the leather Gorthor Brown, the cloth Jokaero Orange and the horns Zandri Dust. This makes them quite an advanced warband to play, as your strongest abilities often require you to set up a kill that can trigger them. As you play more you’ll see the benefit of this, particularly in using it to see what your opponent does and then respond to it. You could even activate a disposable jobber, wait, then activate him on your next activation to push the button and use up a second activation, if you’ve got a non-vital model doing an objective related action or something. Suddenly you’ve pushed your opponent into two activations you can respond to, which could include things like moving their models to where they’re exposed against yours. For my warband, I chose Mephiston Red for the armor plates, so my Pit Champion would look even more like his great rolemodel the Khorne Slaughterpriest.
