He closed his eyes and filled his lungs with the ocean air. Hadn’t he known this would happen? When he got moved up from the Dayton A team last spring he had expected great things. How and when did Tyler begin to understand grace? How is the goal of perfection connected to the need for grace? Explain. How was his attempt at being perfect possibly connected to his very great failures and losses? I love how I was truly able to know the characters on a deeper level. I felt empathy for the characters at their pain and I felt their happiness. All of the characters to me felt realistic and like I could imagine them to be real people. I also did enjoy the angels in this book and how they each played a role in the main characters lives. Presence and awareness really are so key because with presence and awareness, you can notice the signs of angels, and then directly tune into the angels who are behind the signs. I don't generally read Christian romance because it's just too fluffy, too sugary sweet. I remember reading a Kingsbury book years and years ago, so I thought I'd give this a try since I like angel books. This was like watching an episode of the old show Touched by an Angel, but grittier. In Genesis 18, we read about Abraham and his visit from three men. One of the angels in the form of a man promised Abraham, “I will return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son” ( Genesis 18:10).

Summary

I felt bad for Marcus. Here he is madly in love with Mary Catherine and he doesn't understand why she's pushing him away. He knows their feelings are real, yet she won't fully commit to him. Even when he says he loves her and will wait for her even as she goes to Africa, she says she just wants to be friends. It takes a strong man of faith to love Mary Catherine and Marcus Dillinger is just that man. Although he's still new to his faith he loves God with all his heart and he relies on God to guide his footsteps. I have to admit Marcus made my heart swoon. Who wouldn't want a man who loves God desperately first and pursues you with that same determination?. He wasn't overly pushy with her but he was definitely forthright. I also loved how he asked God for a sign and God answered. I can't tell you how many times I've begged God for a burning bush or something to tell me what I should do.

What would his parents say after tonight? His father’s face flashed in his mind. Funny. Whenever he thought of his dad, he thought of him angry. Correcting his pitching form, scrutinizing his weight training, questioning him. Meanwhile Sami finds the perfect guy who has big plans. Her parents love the guy. Problem is she doesn't. Throw in Virginia who is a 90 year old lady in an old folks home who has dementia and you have the main characters of this book. They all interact and God is at work through his angels who are sent to earth to bring about God's will. Still, Marcus is sure in the depths of his soul that something isn’t right. Ultimately his correspondence with Mary Catherine leads him on a desperate life-or-death mission to rescue her and get her to a US hospital before time runs out. Meanwhile, Sami and Tyler struggle with issues of their own. In a season when Tyler plans to ask Sami to marry him, the very core of their relationship is in jeopardy. Tyler exhaled. The pain of his past was as close as the nearest computer. Any kid with a cell phone could read about the hero he’d been. I had an encounter with an angel, October 1994. I was living in Hawaii, and I had a seizure at a stop light causing my car to stall, a woman showed up at my car door, she had called 911 and waited until the medical team arrived, and then she was gone. The EMT's tried to find her and she was no where to be found. I know that she was an angel who was sent to care for me that day.

I don't know if I have acclimated to the writing style or I was just really determined to enjoy Mary Catherine "I need a heart transplant, but not as much as I need to fulfill my lifelong dream of volunteering at an orphanage in Uganda" Clark and everything about her story, but I was able to brush off most of what annoyed me and enjoy what I came for.

Chasing Sunsets by Karen Kingsbury is the second book in the Angels Walking series and the first book I've read by Karen Kingsbury. A team of Angels Walking takes on the mission to see hope restored for Tyler, Sami, and Virginia. Can the small and seemingly insignificant actions of the unseen bring healing and redemption? Can the words of a stranger restore lost love? Every journey begins with a step. Next he called for a curveball. Atta boy, William. Perfect pitch. Tyler gave the slightest nod. This was it. A curveball would sail straight toward the plate and break hard to the inside. By then the batter would bite, and the swing would be a strike. I've compiled this list of the most common signs from the angels. These signs may be from archangels, guardian angels, or from other angelic beings. All of these signs can come in as a validation or answer to a question you may have asked. In true Karen Kingsbury style she pens a book that tugs at your heartstrings and takes hold of your soul. I have always enjoyed Karen's books, however this one will remain with me for a long time.Finding feathers on your path is one of the more commonly known signs of the angels. Feathers of any color are a beautiful reminder that your angels are near, loving and supporting you from behind the scenes. When you find feathers in a place which is somewhat abnormal, it is an especially powerful angelic sign. When you find white feathers they're almost always a sign from your angel… Somewhere in heaven, a decision has been made. An Angels Walking team has been assigned to a desperate mission: a broken baseball player, the love he left behind, and the miracle that might save a whole city. Kingsbury has an interesting way of writing a novel. Even though there were suspenseful times in the story, the action moves along at a consistent pace and the prose is almost soothing rather than anxiety producing. The characters' personalities are well developed as there is quite a bit of contemplation by them recorded. When you notice a sign that may be from an angel… Breathe, be aware, and thank your angels for reaching out with their love and guidance. As you relax, and tune into the signs from angels, practicing present moment awareness and allowing, you can then become more in sync with your angels, and more open and receptive to the peace, guidance and assistance they have for you. 23 Undeniable Signs of Angels! Angels Walking gives us a way to see how angels might be working among us. Tell of a time when you or someone you know experienced what might have been an angelic encounter. What I could have done without was the endless letters to Kingbury's children at the beginning and the notes at the end. I think those are best left to the print book where one can read them or not. I got about 5 people in and finally realised that the whole prologue was nothing but that. So I skipped on to the first chapter. Have you ever noticed a lovely sweet scent and been unable to identify the source? This very well may be a sign from your angels! Angels often love to make their presence known through the power of scent. You may notice the presence of your Guardian Angel through a lovely rich and minty chocolatey smell, or the nearness of the Archangels through the sweet subtle scent of flowers. Or perhaps you've noticed times where your pets' focus is entirely captured by something you seem unable to see…Angels are beings of love and light and so seeing unexplained shimmers of light, or flashes of light and color around you, or around another person is a clear angel sign! This may take the form of a bright star which catches your eye, shafts of light streaming down from above, a flash of light appearing without an actual light source, light shimmering off of an object in an unusual way, or the quality of air around you just seeming to shimmer and sparkle. Try closing your eyes, and if you still see the light, it's very likely an angel with you. Breathe, relax, and if you're ready your angel may expand the light before you, or envelop you within the angelic glow to bring you healing, upliftment, and rejuvenation. Seeing Lights While Meditating How was Tyler surprised by his conversation with Sami at Pensacola Beach? He thought Sami valued him because he could play baseball. Explain how Sami really saw Tyler. How could this part of their story help you or someone you know in your story? With a reputation like that, he should have had it all. After all, he was playing at the national level. Tyler was on top of the world, and just as suddenly as he had arrived there, it all fell apart. It happened just the way that it could have happened to anyone. Tyler gets an injury in his chosen sport field and he goes from being the star athlete and the center of attention to becoming virtually invisible over night. While Mary Catherine is helping Lexy uncover who she really is destined to be she's desperately trying to hide circumstances in her own life that make it impossible for her to pursue a lasting relationship with Marcus. How she resists such a wonderful man is beyond me!
