Teddy was born sometime before December 1926 and was rescued by Newt Scamander, and consequently placed inside of his magically-expanded suitcase full of magical beasts. [3] In New York [ ] Was there ever any doubt? Of course the answer to ‘who is the cutest companion?’ is Teddy the Niffler. Of course it is. We fell in love with Teddy even before we knew his name, and upon learning his name, this only served to escalate our adoration for the little guy even further. Her target stopped, as she was lowering her wand after her spell. She rushed into it's direction, and discovered... a little Niffler who looked like one of Newt's, more precisely the one she had named. It couldn't be a coincidence ! There weren't Nifflers in the USA, they were British creatures, and she had left Newt less than 30 minutes ago. She made sure to hold on the creature right, and then cancelled her charm. The Wyvern is a two-legged beast, which can assume different shapes depending on function. It is akin to a dragon but with smooth skin rather than scales. At first glance, it looks something like a Dodo, but with a long, feathered tail and short, stubby wings that seem incapable of flight. However, defying expectations—and gravity—the Wyvern can fly, initiating its takeoff by inflating like a blowfish and then floating up like a hot air balloon, with its small wings beating similar to a hummingbird’s. Its tail lengthens exponentially and possesses the tensile strength to carry objects many times the Wyvern’s weight, including a person. Once airborne, the Wyvern transforms again: deflating its body as its wingspan grows to resemble those of a pterodactyl…and off it flies.

However, the duo soon developed a closer relationship as Newt trusted Teddy enough to set free for short periods of time in a foreign city, and in turn Teddy was able to procure Grindelwald's blood vial. As Newt took his suitcase to Hogwarts to meet with Albus Dumbledore, he took out the vial, and when Dumbledore enquired as to how he got it, he showed him Teddy. Newt then carefully set Teddy down and walked across the Viaduct with Albus Dumbledore to the Hogwarts Castle. The little one was still looking at her, as if she was understanding the meaning of the conversation too. She moved on Tina's shoulders. Her pouch didn't seem full. Tina decided this one wasn't as cleptomaniac as was Teddy. Maybe was she too young for that ? She wasn't sure, she thought to remember that, quoting Newt's letters, “ babies were as much a pain as adults ”. However, besides this, Nifflers were indeed great pets and were known to be very gentle creatures and were very friendly and kind to their masters. However, there were instances where Nifflers could get pretty vicious, as was the case when a Niffler tried to get the rings off of Dolores Umbridge’s fingers. At some point during Newt's visit to Hogwarts during the 1980s, Teddy was one of several of Newt's creatures that managed to escape his suitcase, allowing him to wander around the school. Teddy made his way to Albus Dumbledore's office, where he scattered several of Dumbledore's shiny possessions. Dumbledore asked Jacob's sibling to help clean up his office and to recapture Teddy, which they were able to successfully do. Teddy was eventually returned to Newt, much to his relief. When Jacob Kowalski accidentally swapped his and Newt's cases, Teddy was taken to the former's apartment. When Kowalski opened the case, he accidentally released a selection of Newt's creatures, including Teddy, who hid behind a photo of Kowalski's grandmother to avoid being discovered. [3] Tina had to sleep, at least for a few hours. After all she had heard at the wedding party, mostly about what had happened in Berlin and in Bhutan (and in China before), she doubted her terrors would let her sleep, but she had to try anyway. Delia was still unnoticed. She was happy ! She had the opportunity to explore the real world, not just the London's flat, for the first time in her life ! There was an other human with them very often. Actually, she was there all the time. Excepted she wasn't really there, she was just pinned on the lid of the case. But Delia knew she kept an eye on them, she always followed them with her pictured gaze. Delia loved this human much. This human had something that attracted her a lot. Mommy seemed to like the wizard girl too. He was staring at her picture every time he could. Delia understood, she did the same. Sometimes, she was more attracted by the woman in the picture than by some shiny things. One day, the picture of the woman changed on the lid. Delia was happy, because she could see her better. She could stare at her even from the burrow. And the woman was following them when they were messing up, sometimes with a false severe look on her face (a bit like Mommy's). Nope Delia, you are really Delia, right ? Not this one, it's for my job.” Tina said, as she was taking the paper which had a letter corner on it. The Niffler moaned, kept listening to the witch and tilted her head. Tina caught a little box, with a lot of silvery objects. “Newt, your Mommy, won't be happy. He'll say I spoil you. It will be our little secret, right ? You want some ?” Tina was holding the little box towards her.
When she woke u p and poked her head o utside again, it was quieter, and colder. She only could hear Mommy's voice, and an other one, probably the voice of the wizard girl. They were in the street, and walked side by side, linked by their arms. Delia wished it would last forever. She didn't really know the woman, who called Mommy “ Newt ” all the time. Thinking about it, Bunty did the same, but it didn't sound the same. That was strange ! And Mommy kept calling the wizard girl “ Tina ”. Was she the one who ha d named her ? Oh, that was so exciting ! But Delia was so tired. She was so tired that she napped again, and couldn't hear the end of their conversation. Mommy Newt seemed happy when Tina was there. Jacob's sibling kept one in the Magical Creatures Reserve, [10] and trained it with the help of Rubeus Hagrid. [11]
