Two or more bedroom compartments – it’s our opinion that it’s both warmer and more private to have multiple sleeping quarters within a family tent than all sleeping in the same area. If the Coleman WeatherMaster 10 doesn’t feel like the right option for you, there are a few alternatives I can suggest. CORE 9-Person Instant Cabin It’s good to attempt setting up your tent in the comfort of your home to avoid the troublesome setup procedure if you’re a novice. I recommend setting the tent in a condition similar to the one you will visit, such as in the woods, direct sunlight – beaches, and more. If you’re experienced at pitching tents, you should be able to set this one up alone. The set up is easier than many other camping tents of this size. However, due to the size and some concerns, I believe it’s easier and safer to set up with two people. As mentioned, head height in the Antrim is substantial due to the pre-angled airbeams used to support the tent. They give an excellent arch and make walking around easy, even for tall folk like me.

Setup took us around 20 minutes in total, but that was at a fairly leisurely pace. Look at it as a bit of holiday exercise – you can always treat yourself to a glass of wine afterwards! The WeatherMaster tent relies on the WeatherTec system to keep your tent dry in wet weather. The welded waterproof floors and inverted seams protect you from the rain. With patented welded floors and inverted seams, the tent helps protect you from the wind and rain. We highly recommend spending a little extra and also buying the carpet for the 6XL for a bit of added luxury underfoot. The Antrim has a sizeable covered front porch area which is a great place to sit. On a sunny day there is ample room to sit and enjoy the view whilst also offering protection if a shower starts hammering down. You could definitely bring a BBQ or camping stove into this area to cook and there is great visibility. But it might still be a good idea to look into procuring a seam seal, a waterproofing spray, and a tarp for the tent. A few customers had leakage issues in heavy rain. Please note that all the Weathermaster tents are a light pastel green in colour which may not to be everyone’s taste. Personally, we are fans of it as it is more subdued than the previous generation Coleman Valdes 6XL airbeam tent (which is still a great tent if you can get hold of one). However, it may have been nice to include an alternative colour in the Weathermaster lineup. Sleep well in the Weathermaster The Weathermaster 4 is perfect for a small family who want something that is going to give them a good night’s sleep and is simple to pitch. Technical Specifications

We were unfortunately not given the Hydrostatic Head information for the 6XL, but can report that our test model was definitely waterproof and will survive a biblical deluge. Not only have we looked at literally HUNDREDS of tents for this review, but we’ve also reached out to Coleman to make sure we get all the details you need to decide if this tent is right for you. Front porch area (380cm x 100cm) with decent ground sheet. Perfect for sitting on to remove muddy boots. The FastPitch Weathermaster Air has a generous living area in addition to the spacious open porch, which is large enough to house a table and chairs, providing the perfect place to relax and keeping you protected from the sun and rain. Heavy rain is no match for the polyester flysheet which has an impressive hydrostatic head of 4500mm. This combined with the tough, integrated polyethylene groundsheet ensures a dry and bug-free interior. For convenience, the open front awning protects the living room door from rain, while the addition of Coleman’s UVGuard with an SPF50 will protect your family from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. The lounge area is expansive – this is your main living space, with a head height of over 2.15m – perfect for taller folk. The lounge measure 270 x 450cm and has two side doors to the outside, one with a neat little shelter (or ‘brow’) above it to get your shoes on without getting soaked. This also stops water dripping in when the door is open – nice!

We highly recommend spending a little extra and buying the 4xl carpet for a bit of added luxury underfoot. As for the doors, they already sport a hinged door design, which makes it really easy to enter and exit the tent without wearing out a zipper as in traditional tents. Still, try not to be too harsh when using it. How easy is the set-up process?
