Written in Miss Peregrine’s inimitable style, it’s also a dramatic expansion of the universe fans have already come to love, introducing countless new peculiars, enemies, time loops, stories, and secrets, in addition to hundreds of never-before-seen vintage found photographs and select illustrations. Not to say there aren’t pleasures in being peculiar. On the contrary, there are many. But since my sworn duty as an ymbryne is to keep you safe, I do tend to focus on the terrifying and terrible. So long as I’ve got your attention, there are other things you might like to know about who we are and how we live. To survive as a peculiar, you must understand our enemies. But to thrive, you must understandus, and our unique society.

The victory of Jacob and his fellow peculiars over the previous episode’s wights and hollowgasts turns out to be only one move in a larger game as Riggs ( Tales of the Peculiar, 2016, etc.) shifts the scene to America. This guidebook isn’t the best one that I’ve ever read, but it definitely isn’t the worst. Some sections felt like I was forcing myself to read it for school while other sections were so enjoyable that I wish they would’ve been longer. It somewhat feels like this book was written as a way for Ransom Riggs to have people see more of his antique photographs that he’s collected, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing since I know a lot of people fell in love with the Miss Peregrine’s series because of the antique photos. An Indispensable Guide to the Dangers and Delights of the Peculiar World for the Instruction of New Arrivals iako ima status "knjige za mlade/tinejdžere", potpuno je čitljiva i odraslima. sviđa mi se riggsov humor, njegova uvrnutost i maštovitost i mislim da je izvukao maksimum iz fuzije fotografije i teksta. zapravo su upravo fotografije to što mi je zaokupilo najviše pažnje, poneke sam gledala duže nego što bih čitala stranicu. od svojeg hobija -skupljanja starih i čudnovatih fotografija po buvljacima- riggs je napravio dobar i, vjerujem, unosan posao. An Indispensable Guide to the Dangers and Delights of the Peculiar World for the Instruction of New Arrivals By Ransom RiggsThere was a time when all we had to worry about was being burned at the stake. It was a simpler world then. A guidebook to the peculiar world for fledgling members, with notes about the variety of peculiar abilities, techniques for blending in with normals, and other helpful features. I love a good guidebook as much as anyone who’s as obsessed with world building as I am, and this one was really fun! I’d only recommend for diehard fans of the Peculiar Children series, and probably wouldn’t have gone out of my way to read it myself if I hadn’t happened upon it at the library while grabbing the other books. But I loved reading the lore and information about the world simply because I love world building, and the structure of this one made it especially entertaining. The addition of Miss Peregrine’s comments and notes to Jacob made it tie in with the series in a fun way, so I’m glad I read it immediately after finishing the series. Ransom Riggs’s newest installment to the Miss Peregrine’s universe is stunning. Miss Peregrine’s Museum of Wonders is a magnificent addition to the vibrant, peculiar world, a.k.a. Peculiardom, that Riggs has created. Through chapters written by the (co-)Headbird herself, Miss Peregrine, we are captivated by a guidebook on peculiar abilities, peculiar animals, peculiar plants, peculiar loops, surviving as a Peculiar, and more. This incredibly immersive book, coupled with inserts from other Peculiars we’ve come to love and annotations from Miss Peregrine to Jacob, beautifully adds to the chaotic world we’ve grown to adore since 2011. The pulse-pounding continues . . . lost friends are found, boundaries tested, and more surprising history is revealed.”–Booklist

It’s sort of similair in concept to Quidditch Through the Ages or The Shadowhunter's Codex. In case you haven’t read a guidebook before, they read like a textbook to the main series. There is often little comments that “characters” write in the margins. With this book, the guidebook provides information to peculiars who’ve just discovered that they are a part of the peculiar world. Miss Peregrine “gifted” this book to Jacob, so she added little notes to Jacob throughout the book.
