The association spokesperson said, “We sincerely wish the Parish Council every success in this new endeavour and TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT”. The Markfield Community Association has run the Markfield Community and Sports Centre for the last thirty years. Markfield has close links with the Methodist movement and according to a blue plaque on the church, its founder John Wesley paid 13 visits. He was allowed to preach in the parish church as he was friendly with the rector but crowds became so large, he would often preach on the village green. The parish church of St Michaels and all Angels is a grade II listed building. [5] There are two other churches, Holy Trinity Methodist chapel and the Congregational church but the original Methodist chapel (temperance hall) is no longer used. The Parish Council have said, “Your Parish Council is committed to the community we serve, we will be working hard to secure the future of your community centre and sports centre with our many partners”. Markfield Community Association is no longer responsible for the running of Markfield Community and Sports Centre

It offers disabled access and hearing loop systems for meetings. The centre is available for hire at evenings and weekends. With the support of the Parish Council the Association will continue to run the Mayflower Clubs at the community centre and continue to co-ordinate the successful Markfield Good Neighbours Scheme. This partnership will also assist in our endeavours to support local health and well-being initiatives. The Little Chef and retail store both closed in 2008. The Little Chef became Costa, Moto's favourite brand at the time. This Costa soon closed, leaving a large empty space next to the Burger King unit. At this point the main entrance was moved from the side of the building to a new porch leading straight into the restaurant.Anyone using the parking facilities does so at their own risk. You are strongly advised to move your vehicle before 6pm. Get involved Markfield Community & Sports Centre is open seven days a week and offers a comprehensive range of activities for all age groups.

Euro Garages closed the main amenity building in 2014. This appeared to be a decision made at short notice, with posters and furniture still visible inside for a long time after. A small notice on the door explained that the building was closed. As from the 24 th November 2022, Markfield Parish Council have taken on the role to operate the Markfield Community and Sports Centre. Facilities: The centre offers meeting and conference facilities, equipment hire, catering facilities, access and facilities for people with disabilities and young children and an open space for exhibitions. Granada turned the Granada Lodge into a Travelodge, and the Country Kitchen Restaurant into an AJ's, which later became Little Chef History, albeit still with green AJ's fittings. A Burger King was added to the Little Chef. The petrol station changed from Mobil to BP. Prominent 'Granada' branding was provided at the entrance. Facilities: Markfield is an historic building at the heart of Tottenham’s Markfield Park. The community hub can be hired for birthday parties, corporate away days, meetings, training sessions or exercise classes!

This change will not be easy but we can do it together in partnership and with the help of local agencies, community groups and of course, most importantly you our community. List of places UK England Leicestershire 52°41′16″N 1°16′39″W / 52.687802°N 1.277510°W / 52.687802; -1.277510

The name 'Leicester' would go on to cause confusion, as it isn't really near Leicester. Road signs provided on the A511 begrudgingly called it "Leicester Markfield services" as they told traffic to turn around to access it. Granada themselves usually called it "Leicester (Markfield)".

Markfield Gardens is a quiet no through road towards the bottom of Kings Head Hill. If you lived here, you are within walking distance from the shops and amenities of North Chingford's Station Road and Chingford Station with its links to the Victoria Line at Walthamstow Central (15 mins) and London's Liverpool Street (25 mins) and because it's the end of the line, you'll nearly always get a seat. The Friends of Markfield Park group is the park's volunteer group. They are actively involved in all aspects of the park. Facilities: The Centre offers community based activities such as a youth club, sawing and knitting club, and afternoon tea parties. We also offer hall hire at competitive prices for private functions (meetings, workshops, birthday parties), and have access facilities for disabled people. This leaves Travelodge as the only occupant of the service area, and their oversized car park is used for makeshift HGV parking, seeing as no actual HGV facilities are provided. The majority of the land is becoming overgrown, with plenty of dilapidated Granada memorabilia. The official "Services" signage remains on the A511, but somebody has been along and covered up the fuel symbols. The signs still promise the restaurant that closed many years ago.
