I don't know who were the buns for or what has happened to them later. But just thinking of the fact that sb will be eating buns from the floor doesn't make Katarynka an attractive place for me. Gatunek utworu„Stary człowiek i morze”„Stary człowiek i morze”: opisy bohaterów„Stary człowiek i morze”: plan wydarzeń The narration shifts to the life of the girl and her mother since the girl's loss of vision. It has been one of fairly happy moments spent in their old flat. [2] Blind girl’s mother – almost absent from the short story, she is young and caring, and works at home as a seamstress. [3]

The Barrel Organ ( "Katarynka" in Polish) is an 1880 short story by the Polish writer Bolesław Prus. [1] Plot [ edit ] Tomasz has one aversion: he cannot stand the sound of a barrel organ. His aversion is so extreme that he pays the porter to keep organ grinders out of the courtyard. [2] Krótka nowelka, mająca swój niepowtarzalny urok. Przesłuchałam ją w audiobooku, na portalu Wolne Lektury i jestem mega zadowolona z lektora. Mr. Tomasz (this is his given name, "Thomas" in English) is a middle-aged gentleman who lives adjacent to Warsaw's Old Town. He is always neatly dressed and is endowed with a good sense of taste. Around midday, he walks from Krasiński Square to Senatorska Street. He has been doing so for 30 years. As a young man, Tomasz was a spontaneous and sociable attorney. He dedicated his days to two passions, work and women. Though he had many lady friends, he never married. Instead, he grew increasingly interested in high culture. He is now retired and is still alone. His apartment holds an impressive collection of art and furniture; he is very rich but has no women friends. [2] In 1872 at age 25, in Warsaw, Prus settled into a distinguished 40-year journalistic career. As a sideline, to augment his income and to appeal to readers through their aesthetic sensibilities, he began writing short stories. Achieving success with these, he went on to employ a broader canvas; between 1886 and 1895, he completed four major novels on "great questions of our age."

In general, Katarynka seems to be a nice cozy place in the very centre of the city. The staff has been friendly during our short visit and the items we've had (tea, cappucino and ice cream) have tasted well. An indelible mark was left on Prus by his experiences as a 15-year-old soldier in the Polish 1863 Uprising against Imperial Russia, in which he suffered severe injuries and imprisonment. Blind girl – the 8-year-old neighbor girl. Despite her disability, she is curious about the world. The quiet, calm courtyard of her new apartment building takes away her smile. But she is drawn out of her isolation by barrel-organ music and Mr. Tomasz's kind heart.
