ORB it's easier than you think, if you spent some extra dosh on BH's aerosols of underbody and cavity waxes, with a bit of sensible wire brushing and cleaning down before application, you might be surprised what a good job you can make over a sunny weekend. The final picture in the series below shows Dynax-S50 protected metal is still in exceptional condition. If you decide to treat your car or vehicle to additional corrosion treatment it’s important to select a cavity wax that can penetrate into welded flange seams – these are the areas proven to be the first to corrode – in fact the Swedish Corrosion Institute conducted a thorough investigation into vehicle corrosion by sawing open the bodies of 845 collision-damaged cars manufactured between 1994 and 1997, the corrosion observed in the flanges and seams resulted in the recommendation that even on cars with reasonably good cavity fluid treatment applied at the factory a complementary treatment be used within 3-4 years of manufacture. This investigation also proves, despite popular belief, that modern cars just like classic and vintage ones require after market rust proofing. Bilt HAmber Dynax-UB forms a touch-dry, brown, wax-like film. dynax-UB is able to arrest existing corrosion and to provide long-term protection to pre-corroded and corrosion-free surfaces. After solvent washing the panel fronts any remaining waxy film is removed, allowing inspection of the underlying surface. Assessment of the product performance is then easy.Onto the underside, and I placed plenty of sheets of cardboard underneath to catch all the drips, as it's quite messy. I used the long wand to spray Dynax S50 into any holes and cavities I could see. I then sprayed Dynax UB over all surfaces, left it overnight, and did another coat the next day. The following day I liberally sprayed some ACF 50 over the underside to try and catch any missed areas and get into any nooks and crannies. I was in a rush so I just left the casing in RCP which is permissible as it's a non-porous coating. https://cdn.opieoils.co.uk/images/variants/icon/bilthamber/bilt-hamber-dynax-ub-non-aerosol-5-litres-3.jpg https://cdn.opieoils.co.uk/images/variants/medium/bilthamber/bilt-hamber-dynax-ub-non-aerosol-5-litres-3.jpg

Some saying to avoid Epoxy Mastic like the plague and others (including Mr. Hamber himself) saying use it... These standardised test panels have been removed from an ASTM B-117 hot salt spray trial after an extremely aggressive 2000 hours – the rear of the panels show that the steel left unprotected is almost corroded through. The answer is to really dry the panel well after rinsing and follow with a white spirit wipe down to remove any surfactant where there’s any doubt as this will beyond all other factors cause loss of adhesion - not only to UB but any other film forming coating.I think that Dinitrol is superior to Waxoyl - it's lasted a lot longer on the bits I've done with it, and the can I have is years old. I will have to give Bilt Hamber a try next time I get underneath. Dynax-S50 has been proven to substantially outperform competitors cavity waxes in salt-spray trials under conditions of ASTM B117. Here are the results: Dynax-S50 is so effective and versitile that it has been used with superb results to protect voids and cavities in steel boats, vessels, off shore installations and other steel structures subject to severely corrosive atmospheres. If you don't fancy doing it yourself, I've seen a company called CSK Automotive, based in Herts, mentioned on Land Rover forums. Not cheap by the look of it and no personal experience. https://cdn.opieoils.co.uk/images/variants/medium/bilthamber/bilt-hamber-dynax-ub-non-aerosol-1-litre-3.jpg
