Annoy? Tease? Torture? Why, yes, that would be me. Did you seriously just figure that out? A bit slow, are we?” I snark. The buts for me are few. So tell me, and maybe it’s just me, are my expectations too high when a title is self-explanatory? The enemies to lovers theme had like a 2 to 5 minutes life span. This was a very good story for me, but it was not what I got from the title. This was not an Enemies to Lovers book. I logged into to this account after years just to save the poor souls that might think reading this is a good idea. For starters, I got this recommendation from tictok after someone posted an excerpt about the main characters starting their love affair through letters shared in a book and I was like, "oh my goodness that sounds cute" the post even said that there was 10 out of 10 spice but both of those assumptions were wrong.

Honestly, I have no idea where to start writing this review because a hundred thoughts and emotions that this book gave me are flying through my head. Xavier was a great H!! imo, he didn’t feel like your “typical” H in these high school bully romances. he had his moments, sure, but he wasn’t straight up rude or an actual bully. i honestly loved that he thought the popularity thing was stupid and made me feel 🦋🦋 at times. 😫 for Aveena, i liked her but i don’t think she stood out to me as an individual character (at least compared to Xavier); however, i loved the confrontation scene she had with her mom and sister and how they finally talked about the dad’s death and how it’s been affecting them all these years. yes, that scene made me sob at 5am, thx. :”) for side characters, i was soo intrigued with Finn and Dia’s story that i need a book about them pls. 😭 You know what? Maybe I need to get my shit together too because high school settings in books are a magnet for clichés, and yet here I still am—clownin' myself. The execution floundered a bit for me. There are aspects of the story that I felt needed to be woven into the story a bit more, being made a bigger part of the characters story and their character development. There some big moments I wished would have been more fleshed out, instead of dropped on us without a foundation being laid. Some aspects of the story and secondary plot lines were felt rushed, making the pacing a bit off. There were also some inconsistencies that pulled me out of the story.Dear Love, I Hate You was truly a love story. It had moments of darkness and moments of light with a HEA that melted my heart. If you love a good enemies-to-lovers love story this is definitely the one for you so go grab it and inhale it like I did – you won’t be disappointed. i understand why the author split their story in two books but i also think this was filled with unnecessary things. i am going to read the next one but this one was just frustrating at some points. like plot points that will probably be answered in the next books were thrown in suddenly like, the last one literally coming in with 2 chapters left. there was barely any build up. Aveena Harper has lived in her younger sister’s shadow most of her life and feels completely ignored by her mother. Feeling the need to unload she writes a hate/rant anonymous letter and accidentally leaves in a poetry book.

First chapter, very interesting and it spiked my interest. Finn’s rude attitude and Dia thinking what the hell have I got myself into attitude went well together in the beginning of the story. Finn was that bad boy who no matter what refuse to show his emotions even when it’s obvious to everyone else. Dia gave me innocent but transgression in to little bit of a wild child towards the end. I like that towards the end, Dear Love, I hate you over laps with certain scenes. Eliah is an author who won me over with her writing last year when I've read her book “Dear Love, I Hate You” which is also the first book of this series. six months later” - its coming. the break up, the cheating rumours. i wanted to stop reading the book here and fool myself that they lived happily ever after but no. nothing could have pulled me away from the book. i had to know what happened. man, I have so many questions. who’s remy? what did he find out from the PI? why does the woman he hired keep calling him? is the video real? what’s the story behind dia’s biological parents? may 20 cannot come fast enough.

And honestly xavior was soooo annoying he had some funny one liners but really got to the point where I was like girl With that said, this book wasn’t thaaatt bad. I genuinely liked the first half of the book, the confessions were adorable and Xavier was just so easy to like. And I think what ive always loved about pen-pal romances is that we see two people who believe that would never connect find an undeniable bond through the letters. Their emotional intimate moments were truly special, and though few and far between, they were enough to bind them.
