About this deal

The volume controls didn’t work with Garmin watches, which is a known issue caused by a recent firmware update for Beats headphones. The same thing has recently broken volume controls on the PowerBeats Pro too. Garmin and Apple said they are working on a fix. Neither volume control nor the ability to pause the music worked when connected to Spotify on a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.

First of all, as Renewed earbuds, these are functionally excellent. I don't observe any degradation in battery life from new, and they function 100% properly. That said, I'm MUCH less happy about the fact that my pair were either chewed by a small animal or maybe briefly dropped in a garbage disposal, or possibly hit by bird shot: pretty obvious indentations on three sides of the main body of the left earbud. But, again, they function (seemingly) perfectly, so my complaint is only one of aesthetics and full disclosure on the part of the vendor, no strike to the manufacturer. The mic offers better-than-average intelligibility. Using the Voice Memos app on an iPhone 8, we could understand every word we recorded clearly, though there were some typical fuzzy Bluetooth audio artifacts around the edges. That said, the mic doesn't sound far away, and the audio is never faint, which is better than we can say for most true wireless pairs we've tested. As for fielding calls, either earpiece can be used to answer in mono, which isn't always the case. Conclusions footnote2Compatible hardware and software required. Works with compatible content in supported apps. Not all content available in Dolby Atmos. iPhone with TrueDepth camera required to create a personal profile for Spatial Audio, which will sync across Apple devices running the latest operating system software, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS. footnote12Beats Studio Buds are sweat and water resistant for non-water sports and exercise. Beats Studio Buds were tested under controlled laboratory conditions, and have a rating of IPX4 under IEC standard 60529. Sweat and water resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not attempt to charge wet Beats Studio Buds; refer to Apple Support for cleaning and drying instructions. The charging case is not sweat or water resistant. If you're flexible about elements like the colour of your headphones, you'll get much more choice too. What was in the Beats sale last year?Inside the box you’ll also find a small Lightning to USB Cable plus a soft carrying case and directions for the earbuds, though setup is as simple as holding them near an iOS device or pairing them via the power button to an Android device. The Beats app on Android provides some of the same functions such as pairing the headphones, showing battery level in a little popup when you turn them on and managing various settings. It’s nice to have dedicated volume controls on a set of active earphones. The controls worked well with Android and iOS smartphones, tablets and an Apple Watch but the Powerbeats have a few compatibility issues with some other devices. They sound great, with a forward, energetic tone that’s perfectly suited to motivational tunes as you pound the pavement or heave those weights. But they also sound good enough for general usage, particularly if you mainly listen to pop.

On each earbud is a beam-forming microphone that’s used to summon Siri, which can in turn make phone calls, read texts aloud and answer questions. At first it felt like Siri wasn’t working – as the Powerbeats don’t make the chime sound by default – but rest assured that if you ask a question using ‘Hey Siri’ or hold down the right Beats button, Siri will answer. No outside noise whatsoever, so be careful if you're running outside to be hyper aware of your surroundings. Wish Apple would make some sort of option to use the built in mic to have a "outdoor sports mode" or something. Earhook Headphones, Bluetooth Headphones, Wireless Earphones, Bluetooth Earphones, Earphones, True Wireless Earbuds They don't fit properly therefore my ears are very sore after hours of use (listening to Audibles). I'm using the smallest ear buds provided! I figured out that the hump behind the earbuds is what is making my ears sore. The ring that goes around the ear is a very hard rubber making it very uncomfortable and not easy to adjust!

In practical terms, this means that the athlete's sweat does not constitute a threat to the integrity and quality of the product (eeew). Sweat drops will not damage the exterior appearance or internal circuits of the Powerbeats Pro Beats by Dre. When it comes to showering, it also becomes possible to place the earphones on the edge of the sink without having to store them before reusing them. Long Sessions Testing conducted by Apple in March 2019 using preproduction Powerbeats Pro units and Powerbeats3 Wireless units and software paired with iPhone XS units and prerelease software. Testing consisted of transferring phone call audio from iPhone to Powerbeats Pro and Powerbeats3 Wireless. Performance depends on device settings, environment, and many factors. What we don't like about them is that the fit can be tough to get right and even slightly uncomfortable when you wear them for an extended period. They're not totally wire-free like the Powerbeats Pro or AirPods Pro and they're missing active noise cancellation and noise reduction technology – which means you probably won't want to bring them on long flights or on your busy commute.
