Description

Beast is a dark and twisted retelling of the Beauty & the Beast, but remember not everything is what it seems, like when Belle arrived at the Beasts castle it was enchanted because of a witches spell, well in this retelling the spell that has been cast is not one of a paranormal nature but one of organized crime which is much much darker. I'm not quite sure what it is about Clarissa Wild's writing that gets me but every single time I read her books, she pushes me out of my comfort box in an unknown world but always in all the best ways. On paper I'd shy away from this type of book (darker, angstier) but never with Clarissa. I'm so glad she's a go to for me... and that I read Caged (and Uncaged) because they were brilliant. And the girl (Aurora) was a hot mess of EPIC proportions. I couldn't fall for her naive and sheltered routine. It was annoying and got on my nerves instead of inspiring sympathy. It's all her fault why I couldn't rate this any higher. Girl was no help at all!!

Aurora learns the truth about her father telling her he never wanted her, she was nothing more than a monster, she had scares from surgeries that didn't correct the the problem he said he never wanted her such a blow to her heart, but as Beast would tell her her heart was to big for her little body. I was truly hoping the 2nd have of this book would be a deep emotional read about Cage adjusting to everyday life and the struggle, maybe some ptsd... but no it was crap and ruined the book for me. If you totally want to lose yourself in a book filled with steamy scenes and non-stop action this is the book for you.Always on the lookout for new and exciting ideas to help inspire her and her work, she’d constantly be drawing inspiration from the world around her. Using many of her own experiences, she’d constantly be refining and honing her craft as a novelist, fully establishing her voice as an author. Currently living with her husband and their son, she continues to put out work regularly, with lots more planned for publication in the near future. A wretched smile forms on my lips at the thought of making her mine. Of touching her, using her body, making her yield until she whimpers like before. Sexy. Gritty. Intense. Dark. Passionate. Suspenseful. Nothing can prepare you for the this book or the experience it gives. The words were mesmerizing... the plot, rich... the storyline, captivating... the characters, addicting... the journey, raw. This two book series was perfectly penned in such a way that it hooked me hard from start to finish. You felt their pain and their struggles. There are various twists and turns in the story that will tempt the characters in ways they could never have imagined. If you like the dark mafia romances, then you will love the BEAST!

Aurora Blom has a hard time looking away when it comes to her father’s cruel and sadistic ways. In fact, at one time he told her to never look away. She might have taken over her father’s business one day if not for a single wrong choice when she was seven. Now she just needs to keep quiet, look pretty, wear her gloves, and play the piano on cue. Still, she has seen a lot over the years, and it never gets any easier. When the violence finally catches up with her father, chaos ensues. Her father escapes, but Aurora finds herself hauled away. She becomes a hostage, a toy, a reward – a lure to catch her father. She finds herself trapped in a cell with the same monster who stole her away, and the fact that she finds herself drawn to the beast terrifies her. As I said, I like the way the author has made this story her own. It is dark and there are triggers, but there is quite a bit of heat and a good dose of heart. I’m quite interested in seeing how everything plays out in Beauty.Aurora Blom has a hard time looking away when it comes to her father’s cruel and sadistic ways. When the violence finally catches up with her father, chaos ensues. Her father escapes, but Aurora finds It snowballs from there. The author tries to make the relationship endearing, but I couldn’t see it. You find out the endgame for the sex and it does add to the story. **spoiler** when they get out the issues with this book really start. Her finding him again? Impossible. In the middle of some remote woods and he has no idea what’s going on around him, but makes it to somewhere close? Uh ok. Then there’s the paparazzi. Now you see them, now you don’t. They seem to be there when it adds to the story, then magically disappear when the H and h need space. Too inconsistent. The love story/ending? I can only shake my head. Then there’s his “career”. Plot hole. It’s mentioned and then basically gone. There are so many things mentioned in the book, one can only assume there will be a book 2. If there is, this reviewer will not be reading it.

Feel free to invite some friends to join our Round Table community!http://www.goodreads.com/group/invite_members/26989-goodreads-authors-readers My ARC copy included both CAGED and UNCAGED. I am not sure if they are going to be released as one long book or as a duet, but I have included a separate review for both here. This book opens in The Netherlands when Luca and Jill are twenty-one. Tensions between the De Vos and Baas families remain high since the tragedy that took place three years ago. Ella lost her voice due to a childhood trauma. Now, she finds herself trapped for unknown reasons along with a beast of a man who hungers for her touch. I liked this male character because he harbors an innocence that matches his upbringing away from many things we consider basic, but he's also dangerous in strength and purpose. And guys…. The sex scenes weren’t even good. They were a little ridiculous to be honest. And aurora was such a moron I had a hard time getting past that ridiculous inner dialogue to even enjoy anything the author wrote about her. Have I read a horrible book just for a steamy scene between characters? Sure, guilty as charged. Would I recommend that here? Absolutely not.

How does Aurora play the piano (“professionally” was used to describe her piano prowess) when her hands are as messed up as they’re described to be..? And to have the main character publicly ridiculed and shamed for her appearance, multiple times, was disgusting. I’m sure she ends up “learning to love herself” or another form of inspirational bullshit, but why have something like that used negatively in the first place? Scars and unique developments are so common and using it as a source of shame purely for a dramatic or tension filled plot point just seems lazy to me.The 2nd half “uncaged” was so ridiculous I skimmed about half of it. I enjoy a far fetched tail... look at my reading list... but there comes a point when you should have just ended the book while your ahead. Two people who find each other, who fall for one another in the direst of situations. And somehow along the way, Ella is even able to find her voice in front of Cage. They are as different as can be, yet so perfect for each other. Their love is pure and sweet – and everything that it shouldn’t be given the circumstances. I didn’t expect the twist of this story; has a rather unexpected revelation that might leave you stunned, but it’s amazingly good! Beast is a feral and untamed giant caged monster known as the Beast trained as an assassin. Beast is known for being wild, wild, and dangerous; he’s also handsome and sexy as hell. Aurora Blom is the daughter of a crime boss who likes to play the piano but always wears gloves. Why? Aurora has been protected by her father all her life. What is contemporary romance? It's a rom This is a group for discussing books and authors of adult contemporary romances between a male and a female.
