About this deal

It's taking a bit of getting use to but that is because I have mainly been using laptop and low profile keyboards for the last few years. The Keychron K2 (Version 2) and the Keychron K14 are very similar wireless mechanical keyboards, but they're different sizes.

I was able to swap the keys out for the British (PC) mac keyboard language to match my windows machine, so I can swap between the devices. Anonymous 28/04/2021Ive been looking for a mechanical keyboard for a while now, but found it hard to understand a lot of the associated jargon. Keychron products marked as being a special or a limited edition cannot be guaranteed in case of replacement to be replaced with an identical product. I had no experience of mechanical switches but as I am quite a heavy typer I thought the extra actuation force would be the best to go with. and a braided USB-C cable, because it’s nice to have choices), configuration options for Mac and Windows, an industry-leading 4000 mAh battery, several attractive lighting modes, and a selection of Gateron mechanical keyswitches (the usual suspects – red, brown and black).

Both boards have a hot-swappable variant so that you can use whatever switches you prefer without having to solder them in yourself. K2 V2 offers 18 RGB effects, so the chances are that you might get bored of writing before the lighting options run out. Well, you can change the lighting options by pressing the lightbulb key in the upper right corner, and you can also lock your favourite lighting effect by pressing the fn+L+lightbulb key for six seconds. That said, both keyboards have a hot-swappable variant that lets you change the switches without soldering.

The keyboard speaks for itself, of course it is a matter of preference, but for me, it catered for all of my needs; namely the UK ISO keyboard layout, Gateron Brown switch mechanical keys, white backlight, and MacWindows compatibility. The only slight downside for me is the choice of switches; the only tactile option is the Gateron Browns, which aren't very tactile at all IMO. K2’s 85 key design by retaining all the essential function keys like Page Up/Down, Home, End, and Screen capture (cmd+shift+4) which are important for your productivity. Keychron claims that the battery would last you 240 hours with backlighting disabled and 72 hours with the RGB backlight turned on.

If you don’t want to upset people around you, I suggest you go with either Red or Brown switches for a less noisy environment. Anonymous 17/04/2021So I have been tempted to join the world of mechanical keyboards for some time, probably mainly down to the amount of content on YouTube. COMPACT YET POWERFULK2’s 84 key design by retaining all the essential function keys like Page Up/Down, Home, End, and Screen capture (cmd+shift+4) which are important for your productivity. But, the backlighting effects on K2 V2 look fantastic while making it comfortable to work during the dark. It's a small, 75% compact keyboard that has a function row, Page Up/Down, Home, End, and arrow keys.

Socket of Gateron (Hot-swappable) is compatible with almost all the MX style 3pin ("~" key supports 3pin only) and 5pin mechanical switches on the market (including Gateron, Cherry, Kailh, etc. The Bluetooth is quite good (at least for typing and regular gaming sessions, distance from receiver between 1m to about 2-3m). The K10 is full-size with a standard layout, while the K2 is smaller at a 75% size, so it doesn't have a numpad or certain navigation buttons like Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and Pause Break. Moreover, if you're a Mac user, get the K2 V2 instead of spending your hard-earned money on that Magic Keyboard.Plus the brown switches are great, the lighting is superior as I can see all the special characters whereas on the logitech the lighting only illuminates the main letters and numbers. The keyboard itself is an excellent first mechanical keyboard - the layout, form factor and functionality (especially the battery life and bluetooth) work really well; more ergonomicspace saving without losing lots of functionality. The unit we tested has Gateron Brown switches, which provide a great typing experience, and you can get it with other switch types if you prefer. Both keyboards are available in various switch options, and the Vortex has a variant with backlighting.

Different rows on the keyboard have different heights and slope profiles and Keychron K2 keycap uses OEM profile with MX style.

The open-source firmware means endless possibilities for keyboard layouts, shortcuts, backlight effects, and more. The added sound-absorbing foam, a thick silicone dampening bottom pad, and steel plate provide responsive feedback and a peaceful typing sound, while added weight will enhance the stability. The Razer is a better choice for gaming thanks to its incredibly low latency, macro-programmable keys, and customization software.
