About this deal

Among straightforward Silver Age superheroes from publishers other than Marvel or DC, Charlton Comics offered a short-lived superhero line with characters that included Captain Atom, Judomaster, the Question, and Thunderbolt; Tower Comics had Dynamo, Mercury Man, NoMan and other members of the superhero espionage group T. His autobiography, Batman and Me, was published in 1989, and in 1996 he was inducted into the Eisner Awards Hall of Fame. The iconic tales of Batman from the classic Silver Age collected for the first time in this incredible omnibus! Damian’s heroic death was one of the key moments in Morrison’s seven-year run on various Batman titles, but the character was eventually resurrected.

It would be more accurate to refer to them as 'prototypes' for the characters, and for the genre as a whole. Starting with Batwoman's debut in the mid-1950s, lots of the stories are up to the level of the Golden Age Omnibuses (to which I've given more stars) — decent detective stories, the original Batwoman (what can I say? The Silver Age marked a decline in horror, crime, romance, talking animal humor, and Westerns as American-comics genres. The silly campy Flash stories and Green Lantern Stories were still a part of their of history up till Crisis. The strip boasted stories by longtime editor Whitney Ellsworth and art by DC stalwarts Shelly Moldoff, Joe Giella, Carmine Infantino, and Al Plastino.

From there, fans get to meet multiple versions of Batman including: The Batman Puppet, Batman Jones, The Phantom Batman, The Armored Batman, Mogo: The Bat-Ape, Batman: Superman of Planet X, Batman’s Robot Twin, The First Batman (Bruce’s father), The Outlaw Batman, The Rainbow Batman, The Giant Batman, and The Alien Batman. He ignored some of the elements of the "Old Look" like Batwoman, Bat-Girl, Ace the Bat-Hound, Bat-Mite and he had Alfred killed off. The Silver Age coincided with the rise of pop art, an artistic movement that used popular cultural artifacts, such as advertising and packaging, as source material for fine, or gallery-exhibited, art. His efforts in the super-hero genre also appeared on TV in the 1960s, including material for the animated New Adventures of Superman plus a two-part Clock King episode of the 1966 Batman series.I. Combat, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Green Lantern: New Guardians, Grifter, I. Blumberg places the end of the Silver Age in June 1973, when Gwen Stacy, girlfriend of Peter Parker (Spider-Man), was killed in a story arc later dubbed " The Night Gwen Stacy Died", saying the era of "innocence" was ended by "the 'snap' heard round the comic book world—the startling, sickening snap of bone that heralded the death of Gwen Stacy. In 2013, DC began collecting the earliest stories of some its most enduring series and characters in matching trade dress volumes, titled Golden Age Omnibus, Silver Age Omnibus and Bronze Age Omnibus, replacing the earlier lines Showcase Presents, DC Archive Editions and DC Chronicles. Also, while I enjoy a lone brooding Batman, I am also a big fan of friendly easy going Batman and Robin, Robin is the reader inserted, asking all the right questions.

The Code plays a heavy role in this, as maybe some of the old villains were too violent and monstrous (or too sexual in the case of Catwoman), family is a safe subject as long as it doesn't go against some of the Code rules.
