His widow sold the other 1,000 fascinating instruments in his collection but, for sentimental reasons, retained the Blue Guitars. Whether you’re into the cool, vintage look or you prefer the sleek metallic and modern fade finishes, you’ll find them here! With the incorporation of the piano and other new elements, such as swing and jazz, according to Chris Rea a somehow "sleepy morphine-induced style" came to be Blues Ballads. Feel free to post pics of your own gear, cool gear you saw online or anything else as long as it complies with the rules. Initially 16 CDs were planned, but Rea noted his initial idea was too intellectual and did not intend for the work to be seen as an academic work, yet as a story.

Used for various solos (check out his lead licks on "Brighton Rock"), it's a thick sound with a specific bite that's great for soloing (eg.He dedicated a month to each style and was writing and recording a song a day to try to cover it all. Take the basic concept, move it into the "modern wild west" and what you get out of it is straightforward Texas Blues. SCAMMER WARNING: Due to a spate of recent scam attempts (some successful) recently, if you're doing a deal in the classifieds, ONLY USE PAYPAL GOODS AND SERVICES UNLESS YOU KNOW THAT INDIVIDUAL PERSONALLY. Chris Rea then took the project in his own hands, dedicated to bring it into the world as no-one else would do it, together with a handful of dedicated top musicians. After Scott Chinery’s passing in 2000, the guitars remained with the Chinery family until 2021, when they were acquired by the Archtop Foundation.

What I find somewhat interesting is that he achieves this with surprisingly ordinary gear - mostly Strats (Fenders and Squiers), Fender Blues Junior III (a pair of), a TubeScreamer, Boss delay, and Boss chorus. I first came across the track on a 1988 Album "New light through old windows" and on the subsequent short tour he did in December 1988. The 75-minute DVD might be especially interesting to those who own the album; there are many interviews with Rea and the Band, a lot of footage from the writing and the recording sessions and a thorough depiction of the process of making an idea become reality. The mixture of the basic Blues concept with more country and western styled instruments (slide guitars, harmonica) gave the Blues a rawer, yet again still instantly recognizable sound, which has played a major role in music ever since (up to Stevie Vaughan and ZZ Top). The BMG definitely has its own unique thing going on – it’s nothing like a Strat, or Les Paul, or SG, or Tele (giving my generation away here). Always was a fan of the Road to Hell 😉 I remember Chris Rea saying in an interview how his manager advised him not to release 11 cd's because it would be commercial suicide. It is also worth noting that the Blue D’Aquisto Centura Deluxe was featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the museum’s “Guitar Heroes” exhibit in 2011. The natural appearance of the Blue Series is further accentuated by the combination of our semi-matte Open-Pore Finish and fine adornments featuring a walnut rosette and faux tortoise binding and pickguard.
