The little fox referred to as Small in the story wants to know will his mother love him no matter what he was.

Bough for my son as it touches a little on death very lightly and as he’s been piecing a few things together at this age (nearly 5) I wanted to reassure him a little if he was a bit concerned. This story is wonderful for young children and I have read it over and over to all three of my boys.Told in endearing rhyming couplets, it's the story of Small, who is feeling insecure and unloved, and his mother, Large, who must reassure Small that she will always love him, no matter what. It is perfect for all children whether they are just having a bad day and putting their feelings out there, or if they have deeper and more therapeutic requirements, and have experienced reasons not to trust love is always there. Also, this book includes the issue of death and the possible death of a parent and this is something that any child would struggle with immensely and so it is great that there are books such as this one to remind children and help them with such difficult concepts and scenarios. This delightful tale tells of how Large reassures a grim and grumpy little Small answering all the questions enquiring children ask when feeling unloved or unsure.

In fact we all loved the book so much that "No Matter What" is a phrase we all often use to this day. Absolutely adored this book, I plan on recommending it and telling all my friends with children about it. Just cute little foxy touches that make the story that much better, more interesting, and more enjoyable.

No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. He shows his fears and frustrations by banging and making a racket until his understanding mother asks him what the problem is. I certainly bought it in Russian, but I wanted to find the original text to tell this book in English. I would also use this cross-curricular in art where we can take inspiration from the illustrations of the book.
