Description

While some poor quality fillers can result in flashes on the wall, the Toupret classic filler will not flash, allowing you to achieve a smooth, even finish. When looking for an exterior filler, durability is the main factor when deciding what the best wall filler is. o If you have to cover a crack it is advisable to take small amounts of filler and apply it in thin layers until it is filled. Flexible enough to be used on the go, the purpose of caulk and fillers is to conceal cracks and space, ensuring they don’t widen with time.

Correct diagnosis of the painted surface means checking that the wall is sound, clean, dry, cohesive and hard, before starting work. While it’s not imperative to always wash walls, it is strongly recommended to wash dirty walls and painted walls, to remove dirt and traces of grease that may have accumulated over time. We offer a diverse range of cavity fillers, including ready-mixed, multi-purpose, quick drying wood filler and plaster filler. They are easy to use, soluble in water and available as a dry powder (to be mixed with water) or ready-mixed in a tub or tubes with shaped nozzles, for squirting a neat and even amount of filler around edges and corners. Cover imperfect, uneven surfaces or dark spots before painting with filler paint and wall crack filler. These are all designed to offer differing qualities so you have a long-term solution to any decorating problems, so it is hugely important to understand when to use each type of filler. By choosing the best products and carrying out the process carefully, you will achieve uniform walls with a perfect finish so that the application of the paint is simple and leaves the very best results. Other base coats such as Polycell's Problem Wall Treatment are formulated to stabilise surfaces with flaky paint and loose plaster. It ideally must be fast drying, easy to sand down and not require any priming as the last thing you want is to have to spot prime a single part of the wall where you have filled. However, once the filler is dry it will need to be sealed so that it can be painted over without ruining the overall look of the surface.

Using a cheap exterior filler would be a big mistake, as it is only a matter of time until it fails, or paint can't properly adhere. Overall, it is more cost effective than filler because it lasts longer, however it does have a longer drying time and its penchant for acquiring dust can lead to a darkened appearance. It’s designed to be used where a higher thickness is required when priming and can be sanded once fully cured. Designed for speedy roller application, Filler Coat hides and obliterates areas that have been filled Filler coat covers and preventing the re-appearance of hairline cracks and rough surfaces.

Our range is the only range that is 100% free from VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and solvents, ensuring that there is no chance of developing nausea or headaches from the paint fumes encountered when using normal paint. If the surface has signs of loose parts (blisters or peeling paint, for example), scrape off the rough surface using a suitable tool, then brush and sand. Advice is given in good faith but without warranty as methods of application and site conditions are outside of our control. Or, if you need wall filler for large holes, choose Ronseal, and enjoy a quality that will last for years.

For ease of use we offer ready mixed fillers that can fill gaps with one application, leaving you with a smooth even surface for paint. Use a specialist sealant such as Johnstone's MDF primer followed by an undercoat, before glossing or eggshelling. Surface types include all mineral surface gypsum, cement plasters, lime plasters, thin layer mineral plasters, concrete and plasterboard. Follow by sanding your surface, once the putty is fully hardened and dried you can proceed to paint. The beauty of this product is that is it a 3-in-1 solution that can be used on most interior surfaces and can be used for taping and jointing plaster boards. Or of course, you could just paint over the plaster with an organic wall paint once it’s dry and make your room really pop! It is very important to carry out this step carefully, to avoid leaving any globs which will make the filler come off once it is dry. If you are using a wall filler brand like Tetrion or Everbuild, you will have to let the filler dry for two hours before it’s dry to the touch, and if you wish to paint over it, you will have to let it dry for 24 hours.
