Color films like Gold, Portra, ColorPlus, and UltraMax from Kodak provide a much more affordable approach to learning color film photography. There is a new "trend" perpetuated by professional bloggers like Johnny Patience but all their posts indicate is a lack of experience and knowledge about shooting film. Most people rave about it but the rolls I've shot have tended to disappoint, coming out grainy and slightly underexposed at box speed. Similarly to Fuji the advent of digital photography at the turn of the century caused significant financial problems. It creates consistent results that make understanding and comparing the emulsion’s colour/contrast attributes possible.

If you don’t think there’s enough light to fully expose your ISO 100 film, Ektar is better to be left at home. You will read a lot about how you should expose Ektar for the highlights, much like with slide film. This fine grain color negative film has high contrast and strong saturation which resembles the look of slide film but with better exposure latitude.

Automatic corrections in scanners and software also don't tend to do the best job with Ektar's unique colour formulation.

If you use an AE camera like Aukje then you also make sure that when the camera gets fooled by bright backlight then you'll still be safe at 100 as you have two-stops of light to make up for the mis-read metering by the camera. Great for bright sunny day landscapes where you can take advantage of the film's super fine grain using fast lens settings (see windy wheat field pic attached) but still achieving an impressive depth-of-field. Kodak Ektar 100 36 Exp Colour Print Film is great for commercial photographers and amateurs alike, for nature, travel, fashion and product photography where the colour is really important. Here’s a photo shot with Kodak Ektar 100 and Kodak Gold 200 which will give you an idea of the increased “color pop” you get with Kodak Ektar 100. Here are two examples of when I didn’t expose the film properly and the lackluster results it produced. I’ve also just stepped into the world of Ektar but my results have been way less saturated than yours.
