About this deal

I am a strong believer and do agree with the previous statement, but the way it was applied seemed naive. I am a Christian and I believe in Christ, but I think the author took the idea of following Jesus a bit too far. After checking Goodreads, I’m pretty sure this is the first genuine review this book has received to date. I fell in love with the characters, and hope to learn even more about them in the following sequels. I do respect those who choose this way of life, and I agree it could be wise for some, but the way it was portrayed in the book seemed to scream "Being a worker in God's Kingdom demands singleness".

On top of all that she is competing for a columnist promotion at the Oath Gazette, which she desperately needs. Trying to comes to terms with the crime she believes she has got away with, Grace starts writing her confession. The cliffhanger at the end just consolidated the fact that absolutely none of these characters have any redeeming features and I simply don’t want to spend any more time in this world. Terry Hong, from The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center blog, wrote: "can’t-turn-away riveting [.A former US President campaigns against the first AI politician of the position, but someone is trying to sway the outcome. You can see her clear struggle on who the real enemy is, and at this point, it seems like both sides are the enemy. I have been involved in the foster care system as a foster parent and have dealt with some of the issues covered in this story, so it was a very emotional, but satisfying, read for me. At the crossroads of her life, only one power set Mary free and gave her a lifetime of love and hope. Show me a woman who is actually counseling clients not just retelling her own torturous story over and over, which felt masochistic and/or narcissistic to me.

Also, as mentioned previously, this book borrows far too much from other stories to make it interesting or exciting, even with the idea that Rome never fell. We never have any further insight into why people are living in climate-controlled Havens, or why this version of Rome is in America for some reason, to be honest I still don’t even know what a Grey is. For a decade, between the ages of roughly ten and twenty, Mary’s life was filled with abuse and other bad things happening to her, some of which were a result of bad choices she made. Set in an alternative reality, where the Roman Empire never fell, and the world was never the same, Divine takes place in present-day Appia - real-world North America which has been fractured by a mythical war and consequently divided into five Imperial fortress states. This book was very well written and I can’t wait for MJ to release the sequel to it, because I’ve got lots and lots of questions! With her sights only set on a strange Celtic vase carved with her image, Shannon bids for the urn that seems to possess an intriguing force- and she emerges the winner. She was not escaping from Clanfintan but fleeing from an escalating battle between the people of Partholon and an evil force, unlike anything seen by humankind.
