Description

Jane Passy devised the cues while working as a Speech Pathologist with a group of children with severe speech and language problems. When children are first attempting to sound out and blend words or trying to listen for the sounds in words, Cued Articulation can help. I use it most for word final sound discrimination; you let the child try on their own, but if they can’t quite hear the sound I model the word again but sign the final sound. This book, with accompanying cards, is a wonderful aid in teaching the articulation of consonant and vowel sounds of English. find Cued Articulation such a practical resource for people with a wide range of communication difficulties.

The empirical paper examines the effectiveness of Cued Articulation as a method to enhance whole-class phonics teaching. They are all voiced and are graded by whether they are made towards the front or back of the mouth and how open or closed the mouth is. Both ‘p’ and ‘b’ are made in the same way using the lips, the only difference between them is the voicing. It is useful for speech pathologists, speech and language therapists, remedial and recovery teachers and primary teachers in the classroom. The ‘f’ sign actually helps some children achieve the sound as you can push the lip in to make contact with the teeth. It will be full colour and be a comprehensive description of Jane Passy's methods for teaching speech and language-challenged children and adults how to make the sounds required for articulate speech.

This training will give practitioners the skills and knowledge to support children who are presenting with speech sound difficulties. Teachers found that using the cues not only helped the children with difficulties, but it also raised the sound awareness skills of everyone in the class. For every sound we make, our vocal chords, palate, tongue, teeth and lips all combine making different movements for every individual sound or phoneme.Data privacy and security practices may vary based on your use, region and age The developer provided this information and may update it over time. Findings lend support to the effectiveness of multisensory phonics methods, particularly when used to support children who are experiencing difficulties with reading. The systematic literature review examines the effect of multisensory phonics instruction on children’s word-recognition skills.
