Bloomsbury, Scholastic, or any of the individuals or companies associated with producing and publishing Harry Potter books and films.K. Rowling’s own archive and the story behind the original cover art by the illustrator Thomas Taylor.

Being an American, I recently had a strong desire to collect some of the British versions of the books and stumbled across this one. Decorated with the original hand-drawn Hogwarts crest, the inside pages also feature the fully updated and redesigned story text to provide the perfect reading experience.

The hardcover edition was issued with the original cover from 1997, while the paperback edition has silver foiling on the logo of the 2014 cover by John Duddle. The design and layout of the text, however, differs: so this is not an exact replica of the original 1997 edition. The front cover illustration by Thomas Taylor remains the same, however, eagle-eyed fans may spot some differences between this cover and the original, including the text on the back cover and dust jacket flaps. Harry Potter lives in the cupboard under the stairs at his uncle and aunt's house at number four, Privet Drive - until the day when a mysterious letter arrives from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and a giant on a flying motorcycle arrives to change his life with four simple words: 'Harry - yer a wizard.

K. Rowling's own archive and discover Thomas Taylor's charming account of how a young artist came to illustrate Harry Potter for the very first time.K. Rowling has received many other awards and honours, including France’s Legion d’Honneur, Spain’s Prince of Asturias Award and Denmark’s Hans Christian Andersen Award. In 2014 the inside text was fully updated and re-designed to make it a more reader-friendly experience, and it is this setting that is featured in this reissue of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The series took another ten years to complete, concluding in 2007 with the publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows . The original text itself is the same – although much like a repairing charm, Bloomsbury editors have long since waved a wand over the pages of that very first print run. Rowling has received many awards and honours for her writing, including the OBE and Companion of Honour, the Hans Christian Andersen Award and a Blue Peter Gold Badge.
