But after he babysat her once, Cami said she didn’t want a dad anymore and Lana feels guilty for not seeing the signs. Wasn't a fan of how she put Cal in a position where he had to speak to her sister when she turned up because she couldn't deal with it. I didn't understand how are you a “family” and care zero about someone you are aware is struggling with his addictions. Cami always checked up on Cal during her party and led him to the cake, she wished he would be her new daddy. I was sick with worry that we were going to find out that truth bomb when the sister showed up randomly asking for cash.

Like don’t get me wrong, I love Declan and Rowan, but I knew that Cal would be my favorite Kane brother since we saw so much of him in Terms and Conditions.

Lana being there for Cal but knowing she deserved better, and Cal working to be better so he could be the best man for her had me so in my feels. Cal went to Cami to say bye and I cried at this interaction, he told Cami he was sick and needs to get better and will be away for a while but promises to come back.

they felt crammed to the brim with tropes, not really knowing what they wanted to be— insta-lust or slowburn, enemies to lovers or not. Living together, even temporarily, tests their relationship in a way neither one could’ve anticipated. Also, I really commend Lauren Asher writing about heavy topics such as addiction and emotional abuse. While Cal says he wants to get clean for himself, his actions and thoughts do not really reflect that. The plot line of three brothers jumping through hoops to inherit their grandfather's fortune and controlling the majority of the company board threads throughout all of the books.

Lana believes in Cal getting sober and Cal wants to go back to rehab but he has to complete his part of the will. I knew Cal’s book was gonna be my faveee ever since I picked up the fine print and whenever cal appeared in the other books. Lana is badass, she takes no shit and she looks out for her people but she was a little frustrating as she constantly drew her own conclusions instead of listening to them. Lana wants to sell the house for 3 million so Cal decided to help renovate the house so they can sell it.

Ever since I read a little bit about Cal in the previous two books, I was so excited to finally read his story. And it bothered me that his reason for getting sober was that he wanted a life with Lana and Cami (even though he says it's for himself, but you just know it wasn't).

I can understand from her perspective that Cal continuing to drink during the majority of the book didn't help. The will had a different condition and an unexpected pregnancy story to give the characters more time to grow. Let me tell you, Cami (Lana’s daughter) is a little spitfire and had an adorable way of stealing the show from either Lana or Cal. Cal finds Lana’s mom died from cancer, and her sister is alive but signed Cami off to Lana since she didn’t wanna take care of her. You’re reading experience was soooo different than mine, I loved the way it started and felt the instant connection 😂😭 such a shame this didn’t work out for you but I liked reading your perspective of the book.Cal got Cami a custom-made boat with the help of Rowan of Cami’s fav princess, they make the boat together. One thing that irked me about him was he gossiped about everything and that too to Iris, who FYI was never there for him and continued to ignore him. one of my friends who’s already read the book too said it needed to be roughly 75 pages shorter and it would have been perfect, and i wholeheartedly agreed with her. show us how cal and lana fell in love with each other, show us why he broke her heart, there was no exact given reason.
