No batteries are required to make the stylus work, but the tablet will only interact with a stylus from XP-PEN so if you lose it you won’t be able to interact with the tablet until you get a new one. Plus, lots of the tools of the tablet depend on how much you put into it – it takes a bit of re-training your mind to make using the eight side buttons natural, but once you do it, it’ll save you a lot of time. There is almost no flex when doing a simple twist test by gripping both ends of the tablet and twisting.
