Description

No batteries are required to make the stylus work, but the tablet will only interact with a stylus from XP-PEN so if you lose it you won’t be able to interact with the tablet until you get a new one. Plus, lots of the tools of the tablet depend on how much you put into it – it takes a bit of re-training your mind to make using the eight side buttons natural, but once you do it, it’ll save you a lot of time. There is almost no flex when doing a simple twist test by gripping both ends of the tablet and twisting. Personally, I prefer the XP-Pen Star 06 pen over the XP-Pen Deco 01 V1 pen (V1 is the one without V2 in the name), but if you were talking about the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2, then I would say the Deco 01 V2 has a better pen than the XP-Pen Star 06. But with only 8 mm thickness, you can take it anywhere without the burden of lugging around a heavy tablet!

You can find a lot of 50 USD tablets from newer companies, but the quality of XP-Pen’s drivers are miles ahead and new companies very rarely create tablet drivers that are even remotely as good as Wacom, Huion, and XP-Pen’s. The tablet can be rotated in either a vertical or horizontal orientation, which might put the LINE friends art sideways or upside down, but allows for the user to adjust the work area or side in which the buttons are on depending on what they are working on. I found that even if you are trying to use it on a program that has a portrait mode it will weirdly map the tablet to only half of the device or just refuse to work on it. When I’m working I use a dual monitor setup so being able to map the tablet surface to both allows me to transition applications back and forth between my monitors and shrinks the amount of distance my hand has to move while working on more detailed things on one screen. It’s also likely that the footprint of the device that you will be using it on is smaller than the graphics tablet itself. This tablet also does not have tilt functionality, so most people won’t use the pen at such an extreme angle.

When I ran the 'usbhid-dump' command and pressed the buttons, the tablet continued working normally. It is good practice to check multiple reviews to cross reference their information before you make a conclusion about a tablet. We tested with a variety of functions including pencil sketching, graphic design, image manipulation and note-taking. If you had to choose between the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 and the Huion Inspiroy H950P, which would you choose and why? Speaking of things that come with the tablet, you get a pretty long USB-C to USB-A cable, a USB-A to USB-C and a Micro USB adapter to plug into Android devices. The XP-Pen Deco 01 uses the XP-Pen P03 battery-free pen which features a straight plastic body with semi-slick sides.

The XP-Pen Deco 01 uses an L-shaped USB type-C cable on the tablet, which then connects to a USB type-A port on your computer. In the work area, you can set how much of the tablet interacts with the screen or screens you are working with.

As with all drawing tablets, there are a few missing features, like a dial or tilt functionality, and the limited stylus angle was annoying on a few occasions.

The XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 is a useful drawing tablet that leads to a great drawing experience, as its stylus feels great in the hand, the device is easy to set up and use, and the design is slender enough to easily fit onto your desk or lap. The tablet comes in a cool box with triangle cutouts where the blue colour of the inner box shows and makes a nice X shape.Another con of this tablet is the pen tapering issue which is common among XP-Pen’s tablets, however, that does not affect drawing very often and I was able to do my drawings without much issue.
