We never find out, at least not in this first volume, which is my biggest critique with the book: there are too many questions and zero answers which makes for an unsatisfying narrative.

Chris O’Halloran’s subtle but appealing colours also add a lot to the stunning visuals - this is one of the best-looking comics I’ve seen in a while. I don’t like the idea of separating them, which is what’s been keeping me from putting them on sale. Perhaps if I had read each chapter separately as the critics made it, I would have had a different view of this work. This vol takes readers on a journey filled with mystery and tension, yet struggles to maintain a consistently engaging pace.

The narrative's slow-burn approach allows for character immersion, but when uncertainty persists without clarity, it can weigh down the experience.
