The only difficult bit is the fact that the images contain text such as a leaflet or news paper article so it had to be explained that it wasn't part of the story. The show features a dragon puppet who roars loudly and quite a big crocodile puppet, but these are both friendly characters. A show aimed at two-year olds would have some differences – those shows are carefully made to hold their attention for the duration, and not to be unsettling for them. Axel Scheffler has achieved worldwide acclaim for his humorous illustrations, which are published in over 30 countries.

This play is based on the original book Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book -Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. There are rows with chairs and soft blocks facing the stage, and some mats on the floor at the front. But the publisher thought that would be too complicated, and Axel has done a great job making each book look different. Julia is also the author of the young fiction series, PRINCESS MIRROR-BELLE, and is much in demand for her brilliant events for children at schools, libraries and literary festivals.This isn’t an interactive show, but we always welcome vocal responses from young audiences, and you can join in by clapping along to the songs. The audience stay in their seats while watching, but you can leave and re-enter the auditorium at any time. He has enjoyed particular success in his collaborations with Julia Donaldson, for which their many awards include the Smarties Gold Prize, the WH Smith Children's Book of the Year, the Blue Peter Best Book to Read Aloud and Children's Audio Book of the Year.

This was the last book In the Julia Donaldson series I brought my grandson , they love them and are so well illustrated … as is this one .
