Are there any Tia Maria substitutes?Kahlua is the best substitute, but you can also use other coffee liqueurs like Sheridan’s. Why we like it We feel a little more confident in our Kahlua facts, in as much as they might actually be facts. Whether they will impress anyone is another matter. Here are seven of the most popular Tia Maria drinks, requiring you to use just a few ingredients. This means you’ll spend less time shopping for the right things and mixing them, and you’ll spend more time celebrating with a drink. You’re at the right place if you’ve been wanting to know what drinks you can make with Tia Maria or how to drink Tia Maria: Oh, while we remember, please drink responsibly and within the laws of your country of residence. On with the article… Tia Maria Is Vegan The result is a smooth and sweet liqueur that pairs perfectly with a variety of spirits and mixers.

The roasted beans are coarsely ground, optimised extraction quality, and cold-brewed by steeping the ground coffee beans in room-temperature water and alcohol solution for six to 12 hours. Note: even though you use ice cream to make it, it is not a frozen drink. See the variation tips below or the recipe card for tips on how to turn this into a frozen drink. Ingredients Place all your liquid ingredients and the banana in a blender and top with a scoop full of ice cubes. Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into a hurricane glass and sprinkle with chocolate. Closing Thoughts

Confusingly, Kahlua seems very, very similar to Tia Maria, its vegan sister drink. We said earlier that we wished all items were as easy to categorise as Kahlua because we gave it a very simple “not vegan” label. However, given there are no obviously animal-derived ingredients, it seems sensible to consider why Kahlua is not for vegan dudes (and dudesses). It doesn’t get easier than this. Fill a glass with ice, and then pour in Tia Maria. You’ll be surprised how smooth this goes down. The amount you should use will be up to you. 2. Tia Maria With Milk Neil Jardine, managing director of Disaronno International UK, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing a brand new liqueur to the UK drinks category and providing a delicious new take on Japanese Matcha tea. Matcha is extremely popular in coffee shops and is known around the world for its mindfulness properties, so it seemed a natural fit for us to pair the earthy notes and natural caffeine with our premium Tia Maria flavour. Our latest innovation is testament to the essence of the brand and we can’t wait for our customers to raise a glass of our new Tia Maria Matcha with us.” As per their FAQ detailed earlier, Kahlua, Kahlua Flavors and their RTD products are all out of bounds for vegans. Whilst that will hopefully change when it comes to the sugar used in the main product and possibly Flavors, they specifically mention “milk and/or milk proteins” when it comes to the pre-mixed options.

ILLVA Saronno say "the structural cornerstone of Tia Maria is the white overproof Jamaican rum. The rum is distilled from sugarcane molasses that have been cultivated on plantations near the seaside. The fresh, salt-imbued air coming off the warm Caribbean Sea makes for a very special crop, as does the more fertile sea-washed terrain." The bottle is white with the distinctive Tia Maria logo in the usual font however the colours of the label are much more natural, in muted greys and greens. The glass bottle has a tapered design and screw lid, so nice to hold and pour. We drank the match Tia Maria neat but it would probably be even tastier over ice. I’ve also seen that you can mix it with vodka, to take it up a level. However, the recipe changed over time, as did the alcohol content. The original version contained 31.5% of alcohol, whereas t oday's version only contains 20%. Even the place of production changed. These days, the Jamaican coffee liqueur is produced in Italy and no longer in Jamaica. What's in Tia Maria?

So let's have a. look at the three most common stories you'll hear about the origin of the Jamaican coffee liqueur. The Story of Aunt Maria

As well as the iconic original recipe, you’ll also discover Tia Maria’s newly launched matcha flavour here at House of Malt. Mixing naturally caffeinated Japanese matcha tea with indulgent cream, this green Tia Maria has a beautiful pastel colour and a unique, botanical taste you don’t want to miss. How much alcohol is in Tia Maria? It is 20% ABV (alcohol by volume), which is similar to Kahlua and other liqueurs. Since Tia Maria is similar to Kahlúa coffee liqueur, it's an excellent replacement in mixed drink recipes. Tia Maria Matcha will be available in 700ml bottles and will be launching in major supermarkets this summer.
