Description

I purchased a vintage (1960's) "Cosmpolitan's Collection of Internationally Famous Perfumes" set with this fragrance. This is the very classy sister of Farouche which happens to be one of my favorites so I tried this since a lot of people love L'air du temps. I know that most people would consider "reminds me of grandmothers" as a negative, but this scent is SO comforting and evocative that I don't care if people think I smell like an old lady or if it's too mature for an early-twenties woman.

Smells like a baby powdery musk-like scent from another era, but also doesn't give a super mature smell. When I was growing up, we had a small bottle of l'air du Temps on the vanity counter where my sisters and I would do our hair and makeup in the mornings.

i get a dry aldehyde type of light (but substantial) powdery soapy clean scent, i first thought Prada d'iris vibes. The fragrance is round, airy, sophisticated, fine, slightly green the note that I adore the most, because it's a feminist green a little spicy, a little sober and serious and to the final have something myrrh a strong note that came become to much in hot weather. Very, very complex scent in my opinion, but something tells me that some of the different parts of this perfume simply don't belong together.

It's delicacy evokes a very clean and pristine white walled bedroom in a mansion that has an adjacent white bath tub. i largely agree with her — it's mostly a well-done clean powdery-soapy accord, with a lovely orris-iris butteriness, but almost no lasting power. If you love everything vintage like Chanel No 5 or 90's yellow florals with powder you willl love this. That said the other florals share equal time, an iris that's surprisingly robust and earthy, a lovely red rose and jasmine combination, a powdery hint of violet, all working together and adding little tweaks here and there. The pure and radiant fragrance of L'Air du Temps is encased in a bottle of flowing twists and exquisite curves. As this perfume has been on the market for decades and is a cult-like favourite of so many ladies and gentlemen around the world, I am sure that it was maybe my skin that didn't go well with it, or I simply don't have a fondness for the (combined) notes it has. The bottle’s design is echoed on the midnight blue outer box, decorated with golden twists, doves and stars, reminiscent of the refined paper used to wrap the creations in Alix D. It doesn't end there, though; after a little while, the aldehydes seemed to gather, as if they were encouraging the wood and spice notes to make themselves noticed.
