The rest of the impressive cast shines in ‘80s yuppie fashion, relishing every coked-out, scenery-chewing moment set to a soundtrack full of superlative one-hit wonders.

Suddenly, she’s overcome by the realisation that she’s setting her life up in a way that she thinks it’s supposed to be—pushing her friends and step-mother away, ignoring what’s right in front of her—for an “idealized” life. I’ve really enjoyed pretty much all the books from her that I’ve read and this one is definitely no exception. He specializes in curing lots of illnesses such as HIV, ENDOMETRIOSIS, PCOS, OVARIAN CYST, INFERTILITY, HEPATITIS A,B,C and lots more. When I finally made it to school after scraping my windshield with a razor blade and doing hard-core deep breathing to reclaim my zen, I entered the building with the Bridget Jones’s Diary soundtrack playing through my headphones. Imbuing the operatic, bloody story of the Corleones’ rise to the top of New York City’s criminal underworld with an authentic portrayal of Italian-American immigrant experience, Don Vito, his sons, and their “business associates” reflect an anti-establishment sentiment endemic of the times where mob bosses are made into folk heroes fighting against corrupt cops, shady politicians, and even anti-Italian discrimination (as HBO’s Sopranos capo Paulie Walnuts might say).

Author Peter Benchley and director Steven Spielberg were famously divided over how the then 28-year-old filmmaker chose to end Jaws. Liz sees this is an immediate opportunity to have the big meetcute reunion, like something from one of her movies. After making amends with Joss and Helena and pushing Michael to finally be with Laney, Liz decides to go after Wes with a grand gesture. And as they continue to grow closer, she must reexamine everything she thought she knew about love-and rethink her own ideas of what Happily Ever After should look like.

She makes it her mission to go with him to prom, even though her best friend Jocelyn (Joss) warns about romanticizing him. I felt alive, buzzing with the thrill of romantic possibilities as I leaned against the closed locker next door. Senior pictures, homecoming, college applications, prom, graduation; as everyone I knew got excited about those high school benchmarks, I got stress headaches because nothing felt the way I’d planned for it to feel. Definitely still read the books, but there’s just something awe-inspiring about seeing such an impressive ensemble cast act against the otherworldly beauty of New Zealand and some of Hollywood’s most skilled visual effects.Expanding on the world he created in his children’s story The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings is full of rich pageantry, a ginormous cast of characters, and an alternate history of war between different species building across centuries. Liz also does not let the rumors about Michael having feelings for apparent mean girl Laney discourage her—Liz has despised Laney ever since grade school for Laney’s cruelty.

Now that he's back in town, Liz will do whatever it takes to get on his radar-and maybe snag him as a prom date-even befriend Wes Bennet. Here’s how it usually went: I would see a cute guy, daydream about him for weeks and totally build him up in my mind to be my one-and-only soul mate. I think I was a bit hesitant going into this one because recently there weren’t many YA books that blew my mind, and I thought I outgrew them, but in here there was some kind of magic, and I think it’s due to the fact that this book, at least in my opinion, reads more as a romance book than a contemporary YA one. I went over to the mirror and did a turn to make sure the vintage A-line dress wasn’t stuck in my underwear or something equally embarrassing.

Liz’s mother died a few years ago and one of the things that I think this book does really well, was her grief.

And as they continue to grow closer, she must reexamine everything she thought she knew about love - and rethink her own ideas of what happily ever after should look like. One of the things I liked about Wes was that he saw Liz for exactly who she was and didn’t think she needed to change anything. It's Liz's senior year, a time meant to be rife with milestones perfect for any big screen, and she needs Wes's help. So she puts off her friend, she tries to avoid committing to anything, she shuns her stepmother, not because she doesn’t like her, but just because the thought of doing any of this stuff with someone who isn’t her mother, is so hard for her.It would have been great to have more background establishing the conflict between Liz and Joss, it lacks a bit of emotional impact because the reader does not get to know Joss very well.
