He explained that he hadn't written the book himself and that the critical content was written by "someone else". The rock superstar offers a candid, inside look at his phenomenal career, private and family life, dreams and goals, friendships, personal relationships, and the painful isolation of fame.

This new edition has an introduction by Berry Gordy, founder of Motown Records and his original mentor, and an afterword by Areheart about how the book was written. The opening chapter records that, even at 29, he had been in the business for 24 years, and sometimes he felt like he should be near the end of his life. This book was well written though it was very short and somewhat closed off like Michael always seemed to be with a lot of his personal life. That is why when I read this book I feel like MJ was in front of me telling me his great chapters of his life (Chapter 1: Just kids with a dream, Chapter 2: The promised land, Chapter 3: Dancing Machine, Chapter 4: Me and Q, Chapter 5: The Moonwalk, Chapter 6: All you need is love). Product description:- In Moonwalk Michaael Jackson shares his personal feelings about some of his most public friends. It was only the very last part of the book that it seemed Michael was speaking to the reader and revealing just a little more of himself.

Of course this book was originally published in 1988, so this is his prospective for the year before that. Growing up with an abusive father, with no friends and absolutely no independence makes him love singing and dancing even more.Reading it certainly brings the reader closer to understanding the man behind the almost surreal, none too happy showbiz exterior. Michael describes his childhood, rise to fame, stresses of showbiz, love for children and peace and his hopes for the future.

Moonwalk was re-released on October 13, 2009, as a result of Michael Jackson's death, with a new foreword by Motown founder Berry Gordy and an afterword by Shaye Areheart. Moonwalk is an amazing and very descriptive story of Michael Jackson's life prior to and up until 1985.

My question is legitimate, even if we must admit that, generally speaking and for many readers, this bibliographic concept may seem a little watered down by its author. After the early days with the Jackson 5, he has said little about his early recording days as a solo performer during the Motown era. Generation Xers may be perceived in certain circles as tech-savvy slackers who know more about Centipedes than bookworms, but don’t get fooled again: this whip-smart group of now-fortysomethings—who are wedged between the hippies and the hipsters—knows a thing or two about books.

Some more would have been welcome, but he does not go into detail on this side of his career until its relaunch with 'Off The Wall' in 1979 and the phenomenally successful albums which followed it, namely the all-sales-breaking 'Thriller' and 'Bad'.I'm glad that Michael eventually agreed for the book to be printed after a last minute hesitation about it.
