Description

He is a Twinborn known as a "Crasher," with the Allomantic ability to Push metals and the Feruchemical ability to increase or decrease his weight.

Marasi has had them in a cadmium bubble (slowing down time for those inside), allowing the constabulary to get there and arrest Miles. I was so excited when I saw this audiobook was available - I loved the Mistborn series and am eagerly awaiting the sequel to the Way of Kings (have just finished listening to it a second time, a year after I first listened to it). While the story is entertaining enough, I found it a bit, well, pretentious and a bit cheesy if I'm honest. The three Metallic Arts are still renowned, but have deteriorated much since the events of the Mistborn trilogy, which is now considered history and rather mysterious. Recognizing the futility of the rebellion's efforts, he ultimately handed control to Yeden, a Skaa rebel leader. However, his loyalty remained divided, and he secretly aided Kelsier and Vin in their mission to overthrow the Lord Ruler. Giving himself no time to reconsider, he swung off over the side of the balcony and began falling three stories toward the ground.

It also introduces the concept of Twinborn, beings naturally born with one allomantic and one feruchemical ability, for the first time in the series. Ace Custom: Wax starts the story with his two Sterion revolvers, then ends it with those and the Vindicator, all specially designed revolvers. Whereas the Mistborn trilogy took place in a medieval-ish setting, the people of Scadrial have progressed and are currently experimenting with electricity, guns and railways, so it is comparable to the Victorian Era in that regard. Things finally get interesting in the epilog when the series story arch that has been hinted at is introduced. Ranette provides Wax with a set of Hazekiller rounds and a new gun - a prototype that she names "Vindication" after the Ascendant Warrior.By the end of the book, it's clear his reputation from the Roughs has started to spread in the City as well. Main Characters [ edit ] Waxillium Ladrian He is the descendant of Breeze and an extremely powerful Twinborn.

Wax is aware of these traits yet agrees to marry her hoping to settle down in the city and secure her house's wealth. He’s our hero, our main protagonist, though Sanderson does allow us to ride awhile with a couple of other characters who are equally intriguing and fascinating. The Cameo: Hoid, Sanderson's Legacy Character who appears in every other book in the overarching multiverse of his setting, briefly appears at the wedding party, though not directly referenced by name, instead being mentioned as a shabby-looking fellow in black who might have been a beggar. He couldn’t Pull on metals, only Push—he wasn’t some mythological Mistborn from the old stories, like the Survivor or the Ascendant Warrior. Also, several other criminals from Wax and Wayne's Backstory, some of them quite nasty, are mentioned in passing.

After the Catacendre, it was realized that the "high metal" classification was wrong, and gold is actually a temporal metal. Sanderson usually provides an epic that runs through around 30hours of listening (at least) - well this is only about 10 hours. When Marasi and Wax are trying to looking for a motive, Wax mentions the extensive genealogical resources in his uncle's library, and they discover that all of the kidnapped hostages were descended from the Lord Mistborn.Needing a place to lay low for awhile, Ranette receives a visit that she is most unappreciative of, shoving a shotgun in Wax's face. He smiled, then flared his steel and Pushed off the top of the streetlight to send himself in a wide arc through the air. Publishers Weekly expressed that they viewed it as "Part Sherlock Holmes, part X-Men" and that it is an "exciting stand-alone adventure is full of close shaves, shootouts, and witty banter. The second character, Wayne, has a way of impersonating people that relies heavily on accents (and hats).
