In season 1987-88, to celebrate the club’s centenary the club did a one-off redesign of the badge reverting it to include the old Celtic Cross which was the symbol on the original Celtic badge when the club was formed back in 1888. Well, it was our honorary member whose name did not require to go into the hat – one of our parish priests.Next to Christoph Walter over 100 composers and arrangers work for the Swiss music publishing house. Not known to have been an official badge, and there is actually a badge which was 99% the same as used for similar Rangers adverts, in papers.

Having studied our early years it’s clear that although badges were not as prominent as they are today in recognising a brand we did use the Celtic Cross, the harp, and the 3 leafed shamrock.

C. A member of the club, one of the Doyle family designed the bus plaque that was in time to become the official logo of Celtic F. I was one of the very first to cast eyes on the Badge when I sat on my father’s knee on a Celtic bus in Bonnybridge and I was only two years old.

Along the top of the resulting green frame, they’ve written the club’s name – ‘the Celtic Football Club’ – in white letters.Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. Considering that the club previously used a Celtic cross, the clover leaf could also stand for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I saw a reference in The Celt fanzine some time ago to there being an earlier four leaf clover emblem used by the club.
