An employee has died due to a fatal accident at work. The worker died from crushing injuries when he was pinned between a tele-handler and a metal shipping container. The 62 year old employee was collecting more sawdust when the accident occurred. He sustained serious injuries to his abdomen and was airlifted to hospital, he passed away 10 days later. The employee was a father and grandfather.
The accident occurred when the operator of the tele-handler was trying to position the front carriage above the road saw. His intension was to lift it onto the workers lorry. The operator suddenly braked when he saw the employee by the saw. This caused the vehicle to heave forward which trapped him the carriage of the telehandler and the container. The operator of the tele-handler was not probably trained to use the machinery.
