The fact it took me 2 weeks to finish this book should speak volumes because I usually devour Sav’s books in like 2/3 days🤧. The stories about the boogeyman were true, it appeared, only I learned then that most monsters weren’t the hideous creatures they’d been painted as. She shows up to interview for his assistant position without knowing it’s for him and he hires her on the spot. I really was not expecting much out of this book but I got a man obsessed, feral for his girl and soft for her.

This had both English and Spanish of the "title" and "edition" as well as some descriptions on the back. Ugh she was such a strong fmc that literally frustrated and amazed me with how hard headed she could be sometimes. For years, I watched every person he came into contact with latch on to the goodness inside him and drain him of it, taking it for themselves when they inevitably moved on. They left the hollow, dried-out husk, and no one ever bothered to teach him how to get that goodness back.We met Alistair Wolfe in the previous book, Oaths and Omissions (his brother Jonas’s book) so I was so hyped to read his book and see what kind of trouble he gets into. Which is really disappointing, because I would have really would have enjoyed the book if I didn’t get lost as much.

There was times where it felt like she was just playing that edgy girl that “isn’t like other girls. Among other glaringly red flags, these two intelligent people should have seen him coming from a mile away. i know this is an incredibly negative review, and you do not know me as a person but i have been reading my entire life and i have never read another book that equals this level of bad. there was a plot twist wannabe at the end, but how can there be a plot twist when there’s no plot at all? Some people, though, never say anything new or different, so making sentences becomes less about the accuracy and more about context. If you’re familiar with Sav’s work then you know she always brings the spice, that she always brings top tier kink, and oh boy did she deliver on this one. Anywho, keeping it pushing, they part and think they’ll never see each other until a day or two later, I kid you not, she shows up to interview for an assistants position he has open… love that don’t we? The only reasons I’m giving it 4/5 stars is because there were some confusing moments for me as a reader that just didn’t tie in together super smooth. She wasn’t even really looking for a job, but having an in with the mayor of the island where her brother went missing seemed like a good idea. I could have loved it, given how much I loved Alastair and his beautiful, dirty mouth and how much he revered Cora.

i feel it was used for shock value and though it worked, it took any positive thoughts i had on the book and shredded them to bits. Sure, Cora doesn't like Alistair much, but that's not akin to the mythology - that's more so a common romance trope lots of readers love. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. This book is said to be inspired by Apollo and Daphne, but I didn't see any resemblance to the mythology anywhere. Not to mention the plot was EXTREMELY predictable and the inclusion of Cora’s brother Lucien was SO unnecessary. Although I don’t recommend this book, I definitely recommend the series and the previous three books because THEM BITCHES ATE🤤. the way he was so caring and soft for cora🥹 i was indifferent towards his character in oaths and omissions and wow did i underestimate this man!

She didn’t expect her new boss to be the hot, British stranger she hooked up with the night before her interview, or for him to be so brazen with his desires.
